So I will be in Italy in 1 month for a wedding and will be doing some riding that week with a bunch of roadies. Besides my usual twice weekly XC riding, I'd like to do some more road miles. I've been commuting 24 miles twice a week on my hardtail with slicks. Not so efficient or comfortable.

I wanna get some longer road rides under my belt to be sure I don't embarass myself with these guys. Problem is, I sold my last (vintage) road bike 3 years ago.

Anyone interested in trading your road bike for a nice ti hardtail for a month? I'm 5'7". Or maybe loan me a spare bike for something in return (beer, medical services, goodwill)?

Thanks for considering. And of course, I am always up for a ride (Southern NH, North Shore Mass) on weekends or Thursdays. Cheers guys.

I'm 6'4".... your more than welcome to borrow my cross bike but you may find it a tad uncomfortable :) Have you checked Craigslist? You can find some great deals there on bikes (especially slightly older models). After you are done with it you could re-sell it.

Always have me eye on Craigslist. Your cross bike sounds great for me since I have a great urologist:p Thanks though.

Tuscany, about 45 minutes Southeast of Florence. My brother in law is handling the rental; I signed up for a 105 level Bianchi, $230 for the week. Should be some gorgeous scenery.

If you make it (or want to make it) up to Milan, give me a holler. I can't say I have found much good riding in or around the city, but I can show you where the Duomo is. Who knows, you might even be able to score Last Supper tickets.

The riding around Siena is priceless. I wish I did road bikes back when I was there... so, so nice.

Cheers,

Jaime is a man amongst men, of the most honorable sort: he will pull you along the steepest climbs, speak words of encouragement, and then ply you with beer and barbecue. Oh, yeah, he's also wicked smaht.

I have a total man-crush on Jaime. Can you tell?

Cheers,

-Andrew
most likely creeping Jaime out by now

Unfortunately, Jaime is now a man interrupted, with a broken shoulder and no biking in sight for the near future. Give the man some love (oh you already covered that)!

Seriously Jaime, hope it's not too bad so we can get out on the trail soon.

Jaime is a stand up guy for sure, heal up soon.

All these kind words are making me feel kind of funny, but thanks just the same.

Doc says I'll need 6-8 weeks to fully heal, but he might (might) consider letting me back on a road bike in 3 weeks if I behave myself, do PT, and heal up quick. We'll see on the 20th if he was just dangling a carrot to get me to pay attn to his instructions...

Andrew, I still got beer & bbq: make sure you get over for dinner before you pull up stakes...

I've been informed that my ride leader rating has plummeted.

First you make him keep Miller Lite around and now this?!

Sad days...

Jaime, don't you worry. My ugly mug will make an appearence once again, and I'll even drag the wife along.

Cheers,
