Another great day for riding yesterday. Trails were in primo condition, excellent weather... I'll cheat again and steal some from my MTBR post...

LRR and I restarted our Saturday morning rides. LRR hit it right out of the gate, clearing two sections she's never done before and clearing one section she's only done once before. All in all an excellent two hours on the bike. We didn't spend much time with the camera (which kind of indicates what kind of ride it was - fun).

Given that today is cold and extremely rainy Slider and I squeezed (squoze?) in our normal Sunday AM ride into Saturday PM. This early in the season doing two rides in one day like this is questionable, especially this ride. Its a brutal 15 miles with a lot of lung busting climbs. It worked out great though, we had another great ride - even met up with Pit from the Bikerag crew... is that brush with fame or what?

A couple of Slider up on the concrete barrier. Its a bit ironic that we ride through all this unbelievable natural beauty in the woods and I take pictures on this concrete, but hey light was good. Slider's loving this new bike.

I took 200 "shadow" shots in a good area, this was the only half way decent one and even this one is questionable.

I thought I was going to get "the agony of defeat" or maybe the "agony of the effort" with this shot as its at the top of some very serious climbing, but Slider doesn't looked as wiped out as he should.

A nice log ride... I surprised myself by riding the whole thing...

All in all a great day and two great rides (and with today's weather I'm soooo glad I got out).

Nice pics., wish I had gotten out on the dirt yesterday. Since I'm sans MTB right now, it was the road for me. Decent number of MTBs in the parking lot at Wompy when I passed through.

Is Slider's new rig a Spec. Stumpy FSR w/ the new AFR shock w/ Brain? Curious how he likes it, I test rode one a few weekends ago and am considering on this season.

It is the low end version, with rebound damping adjustment, and lockout, SPV on or SPV off settings only. More than enough if you ask me. Maybe a little light in the rebound damping for the 250 lbs pf pressure I run, but no so much that I'd consider revalving it.

The bike fits me great, and handles exactly as I hoped. Not a hucker, especially under my weight, but 4 foot drops at speed require no thought at all.

That's good to hear. Not much of a hucker myself, but I tend to beat on bikes/parts. Mostly due to weight (I'm a clyde) and due to a lack of a light touch most of the time.

Not to jack the thread, but how'd you go for size? I'm 5'11" w/ ~32" inseam, I rode a large and liked it. I am coming from a Med. C-dale frame which was a little more XC oriented though.

Large sounds right for you. I'm almost 6'1" and the XL is perfectly roomy. Best bike fit I've ever had.

Jisch waits for me, DNA waits for him, and we'd be happy to wait for you. Well, DNA won't be, but that's his problem.

I wait for Slider at the top of the hills, he waits for me at the bottom, and you're welcomed along any time.

We ride mostly Sunday morning, but it varies for weather and (mostly my) family commitments. We'll typically do about 15 miles in 3 hours or so, with 2 or 3 off the bike breaks. I guess the pace is somewhat fast, but its nowhere near race pace. I want to start up after work rides too, now that the light is with us.

Well, that's a wee quicker than my normal pace ... Good luck Quo.

Let me move the numbers around a bit for when I lead the ride.
I do 2X3 miles in about 3 hours with 15 breaks off the bike. ;)

Where were these taken John?

First one is at the Snip, the rest are at Case. I just got back from visiting my daughter's horse, who is boarded right near the Snip. I was amazed at how dry it was! I think I'm going to try a ride tomorrow morning at the Snip if anyone is interested (on vacation this week).

I think you're a day late because he wrote that a day ago about the ride for the following day, which was the day on which you wrote your reply regarding the ride going on today which was posted yesterday. ;)
