After years of hearing how great these wheels are, I have decided to lay the coin down and upgrade. Now it seems they are discontinued. I cant find them anywhere. Are the Enduros comparable? The Mavic website shows a new SLR disc. Are these the replacement? I want to get a rugged UST tubless set that will handle technical xc riding plus some occasional 2-4 foot drops. Suggestions?

Hi Pete, a couple of guys in the crew are riding the new 07 wheels and they are pretty sweet. The new XLs are called Crossmax ST now. The SLR is the xc weight weenie racing wheel and the most expensive. The Crossmax SX is very nice, more of a Freeride wheel but still light. The Enduros you mentioned?.. I think that would be a called a Crosstrail now.

I would look into the ST or if you’d like to go slightly more bomber the SX. What was nice about the old XL front was the ability to use it in a QR or 20mm with the supplied adapters. I don’t think you can do that now with the ST, but the SX can fit in either type of fork which is nice option to have.

Todd my man... you are totally right. I had time yesterday and stopped by the LBS. It looks like the ST's are the best bet. Although, the SX's were only $25 more....$775 versus $750...ouch. They can handle a wider tire (2.5?) and are a bit heavier. Also comes in gray. not black like the ST's. Both can run a 20 mm.

Thanks again
