Flickr Group for NEMBA

Hey all,

I don't know about you, but when I'm not riding, and I'm on the computer, I like to look at pictures of other people riding, trails, bikes and other related goodness. Judging by the numbers of photos hosted on these boards, I think you do to.

So, it surprises me to find no Flickr (http://flickr.com/) group for NEMBA! (I searched Flickr for "NEMBA" and NEMBA for "Flickr") It's cool to have our pictures here of course, but it's very cool to have them also available to millions of people around the world, and searchable by various tags. Plus you can link from our forums to those pics and save NEMBA some bandwidth. :)

Thus, I propose we start now. If you guys are interested, I'll start a group tomorrow. It'll be public (anyone can join) and I'll moderate. Perhaps if PK or any other NEMBA facilitators would like to have moderation rights as well, I can take care of that.

I think the rules should be that no more than ten pics per person can be added to the group per day, so that if ten people upload to the group in one day, those of us who subscribe to the feed won't get overwhelmed.

Other rules could simply be that it should be restricted to mountain bike related phenomena: people riding, bikes, trails, landscapes taken while riding or at riding spots. I thought about restricting it to New England places, but I think that's unnecessary. If you take a bike trip, and you're a NEMBA member, let's see it.

Suggestions welcomed! (that's why I'm not setting it up tonight, I want your feedback as to how you'd like it set up, if you're interested)

When it's a go, I'll post back here with all the info. BTW, if you're not on Flickr, you can use it for free (or pay a little for a year of higher capacity), and if you have a Yahoo! account, then you can sign up even faster. Highly recommended.

Got no feedback on the original post, but I thought I'd take some initiative and just start the group. I think it's another great way to spread the word about the organization, and perhaps attract new members.

Go forth and show the world the NEMBA scene.

Also, it'd be cool if you'd use the tag "NEMBA" on related photos, too. If you want to be really complete, tag the location, and use Flickr's mapping option to place your pictures right on the trail you were on (or your best approximation).

If anyone has any questions, leave them here or PM me. PK, or other chapter people who would like to become admins and/or moderators (to give an air of sanction) please let me know.

If you're not on Flickr, joining is free, and if you have a Yahoo! account, you can use that after a quick set up.

When you post photos there, it's very easy to get a link to them on Flickr and cross post on your blog or here in the forums. If you need help, I'm here.

Who will get the honor of first picture post?
