Hope this doesn't like a crazy old coot looking for sympathy on the trails, but now that I have bypassed the half century mark (in years, not miles) I am feeling a little slower and not too interested in the four foot drops and other stunts you youngins seem so intent on conquering. A nice paced trail ride with some good ascents and decents is all I can hope for at this point. I have even taken to road riding to ease the pain (please forgive me), though my first choice shall always remain on the dirt.
Wonderin' if there are any other old coots out there looking for some good rides, maybe form a sort of Nemba Masters Division.
Thoughts and comments appreciated. Add to thread and/or PM me.
Happy Trails.....

Maybe what you need is a nice 40# bad boy with 7 inches of travel.
It will keep you thinking young or kill ya. :^)

long as we don't hafta do stuff like wear medic alert jerseys on organized rides. Hmm... maybe we can use this logo and yell Aarrrgh from the back.

I kinda like being the older, wiser veteran who DIDN'T just snap a collar bone.

He said 50 not 60 you geezer!
BTW, I think you'll be doing bigger drops than me for a while, but at least I'm back on the trails!

I agree with this. whilst anything can bust a collarbone, sticking to good ol XC hammering is where I am at...just go as hard and as fast for as long as possible.
seek hill climbs, for they are your fiend.

That's why I'm hoping for more and faster, cuz right now it's all slow 'n shaky. Figure after all this time, I've gotta get better sometime, right?
RIGHT...??? :D
Actually, I use the 'XC' excuse all the time too. Nobody I ride with buys it though - they just call me out for being too much of a puss to hit the section in question. Worst part is, they're usually right. :o

A perfect ride for me shakes out like 85% XC, 10% Rock Garden, 5% Technical drops, stunts etc. When in doubt, leave it for somebody else and live to ride another day.

From the old Warren Zevon tune.....
"I'm gonna get a good running start and hurl myself against the wall......
...cause I'd rather feel bad than feel nothing at all"
Let's see......a left shoulder AC at the "66" Mt Snow finals on my XC rig in the 90's....a shattered right scapula falling off a piece of ledge into a parking lot on my XC bike in 2001.....and a broken wrist on opening Day at LYNN on my Bullit in 2005.
Why slow down now? I have direct deposit SS. :^)
