I've never been to CB during FTBW but it is an awesome place. I haven't been to CB since '96 and prior to that was '80. The trails are a lot of fun and will give you a good out west experience. I have friends that have done the FTBW and rave about it. Great group rides with awesome ride leaders. Get ready to get your climbing legs kicked as the distance and elevation will kill your flatlander behind. My friends hooked up to stay in a B&B through the FTBW organization.
With some extra time plan on riding stuff near Salida/Gunnison (Rainbow Trail, Continential Divide Trail). Gunnison is about 1 hour from CB, maybe a bit more to Salida. Feeling like something a bit different, head over to Ouray/Silverton/Durango area. You will be truely amazed. More riding towards Durango than Ouray or Silverton but the drive from Ouray to Silverton can't be missed.

Welcome Leo! A while back my family was also talking about going during the Fat Tire week.
I should get that discussion going again. I've never been there, but have seen some incredible pics and would love to do so.

i went there a few years ago, but was with a group. we called the chamber of commerce and asked for a couple of rental agency's and got a house one block off main st...
flights to denver are fairly cheap, i went the last 2 summers for around 150, rent a car in denver and it's 4-5hrs driving time into CB, then park it. other options include flying into durango, but thats a more expensive flight and you still have to rent a car for the hour drive to CB, and i'm sure there is an airport in CB, but i can't imagine the cost to fly a commercial flight from here to there...of course if you did you wouldn't need a car...
the riding is incredible, and smooth, and the elevation is painful!
