I've been watching the snow around my house, the crust hasn't been strong enough to ride on until today. My wife and I went out back and rode for an hour in some of the most amazing conditions. As other's have described here, we were riding trail free, exploring all the little bowls, dips and rises. It was a really amazing ride. Perhaps we'll get in another tomorrow morning, but the low is only going to 30 degrees tonight.

I'm glad to have done, but will be equally glad when I don't need to ride on snow! Given the bit of stuck powder on top, it probably would have been a pretty good day to be on skis too. Nice traction with the powder though, full on power slides were really nice. There was just enough traction to control the slide in fast corners.

Sorry, didn't have the camera with me.

This type of snow is awsome to ride on- strong enough not to break through yet grippy enough so you don't need studs. I've been eyeing the local golf course for a ride. The bunkers, sand traps etc. make the course look like a skate park and the crusty snow on top is like cement. Looks like it may be worth an after work poaching...

Yeah, tonight would be a good night for a night ride... hmmm.

I donned the headlamp last night to do a night ride on the crust. Alas the snow was no longer strong enough to hold me up. I turned around after a few hundred feet of "pedal, crunch, boost up, repeat". It did get below freezing last night, but it just wasn't enough to refreeze like yesterday morning.

Its possible that we'll have rideable conditions again on Friday night, but no guarantees.
