Called in to meet with the new General Manager last week, and he says: Blah, blah, blah,.... "it's been determined that your position has been impacted."

I guess all that passive language helps him sleep at night knowing he didn't actually say "I decided to eliminate your job".

But after 30 years with the company, I guess getting a 'package' is better than sticking around till the biz runs aground.

Anyone know any ops in Supply Chain? I've done it all from rollout to metrics.

That sucks. I'm sure his year end bonus won't be 'impacted' though.
Goddamn suits...they're all the same.

Got a supply chain manager gig open here - check it out at www.brooks.com (http://www.brooks.com).

Not that they wouldn't happily cut your throat if it might save them a nickel too. Guess that's just the way people run stuff these days though.

Thanks for the link D. More options can't hurt. Gotta say tho, I'm grateful to have had the 30, as have alot of my coworkers there. We got to be a family, and that is worth more than any job.

That sucks....

I recently had to sit on the other side of that desk. Its the sixth time I've had to lay someone off. I can tell you that each time its at least a week of no sleep leading up to THE day.

I can also say that all that BS a manager says while laying someone off has nothing to do with sparing feelings or emotions, its specific language to limit legal action against the company.

I hope you land on your feet.

Thanks for your perspective, and your good wishes John. I really do appreciate it. This GM has been on the closing of another of our facilities, so he must be doing something right (wait, wha?!?). It seemed surreal as it started, then I looked him in the eyes, and it was like being in a bad cartoon, so I just sat, and listened.... how much worse could it be. At least I didn't feel like I was in The Deer Hunter, in the hut, with the revolver.......
