"Around the World on Two Wheels: Annie Londonderry's Extraordinary Ride" March 18, 2007 at 1:30 pm

On June 25, 1894, Annie Cohen Kopchovsky, a young, Jewish mother of three small children, stood before a crowd of 500 at the Massachusetts State House. Then, declaring she would circle the world, she climbed onto a 42-pound Columbia bicycle and “sailed away down Beacon Street .”

Congregation Beth Elohim Sisterhood and the Acton-Concord Chapter of Hadassah are pleased to invite you to hear about Annie from Annie’s great-grandnephew, Peter Zheutlin, who has reconstructed Annie’s audacious journey.

The program will be Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Congregation Beth Elohim, 133 Prospect Street , Acton , MA at 1:30 pm -3:30 pm. It is appropriate for preteens and teens- there will be wonderful slides from turn of the 20th century Jerusalem, Africa, and other countries around the world!

The program is free and open to the public and donations are welcome and appreciated! Donations will be contributed to the Arava Institute that promotes peace in the Middle East and the Solar Cooker International Program in Darfur.

Please RSVP to Jo Ellen Slurzberg at jslurzberg@yahoo.com or Carin Feldman at carincb@aol.com or 978-392-1911 by March 15 so we can be sure we have sufficient seating set up!!
