Slider and I did a great ride at the Snip today. Just fantastic winter conditions, the pay for such great riding was burning quads, yikes that snow adds some resistance.
I did a hike yesterday and noted that the surface was pretty well packed from the snow machines. The forecast called for sub freezing temps last night so I figured today would be good for riding. I ignored the email call for a road ride. I'm staying in the woods as long as I can.
The conditions today were excellent. We did a "Dad friendly" start time of 08:00, which meant the trails were frozen for a bit more than half of our ride (that return trip was brutal). While the riding was excellent 3.5 hours of riding in this stuff is a work out! My quads were burning climbing those last few hills. Imagine riding with your brakes dragging, that what it really felt like today. Every once and a while we'd come across some sections which were frozen solid, what a relief after plowing through the snow.
I don't have any pics of the downhills, but man were some of them fun today. Like skiing on a bike.
