I never knew I liked roller coasters until a few years ago on one of the obligatory Disney trips with our kids. We went to MGM Studios and went on the Aerosmith Rockin' Roller Coaster. It has no initial climb, just accelerates from the flat and throws you into a full loop. There are 3 inversions on the ride, which takes place in the dark, making pics hard to find.
A couple of years ago we went to Sea World, where Kraken is located. This is an awesome coaster, with 7 inversions and smooth transitions. I liked this one a lot. My wife didn't fare so well and felt sick all day. My son was in tears because he didn't sack up to get on it. A couple pics attached.
Last year's New Mexico bike vacation included rides on the New Mexico Rattler, an aptly named wooden coaster. The whole family went on this about 5 times. My insides felt pureed from the roughness. No loops, but lots of tight turns and good speed.
This year we went to Universal Islands of Adventure, where they have three super coasters, The Hulk, and the nearly twin Dueling Dragons. The Hulk is an awesome ride, as you accelerate out of an inclined tube and instantly are thrown into a corkscrew. The boy & went on this one a couple times. Two pics of this one.
Dueling Dragons consists of a pair of coaster, named Fire and Ice, which intertwine with each other. This is a suspended coaster, which IMO means if you're not in the front row you are looking at the persons seat in front of you. We tried to get in the front row of Ice, but the line was too long.
So, anyone have any good coasters to recommend? Superman at 6 Flags?
