I understand that Dartmouth has a ski trail down Mt Cardigan in Bristol NH. You hike up and then ski down. I want to snowboard down and wondered how wide the trail is and if anyone has done this before?

Wow! I didn't know Thunderbolt was in. Cardigan is OK, but you're going to be hurting on a snowboard, because there's many sections that are fairly flat and are going to require either skating technique or kick and glide on skis. Snowboarders are going to need to hoof it in spots unless you're on a split board.

I've done Cardigan and Firescrew on a bike...fairly excellent on with all the exposed granite up top. Little on the scary side too.

I’ve slowshoed up it a few times and boarded down the wide ski trails, it’s not bad but kind of too mellow for my taste these days.

recent trip report from some dude with pictures-

Your welcome Pete! It looks pretty thin up there this year. Last time I went 04?.. POWDER DAY! I was able to board down the rock face to the cabin starting up at the fire tower. Never did explored all of the ski trails.

Shoot me a email if you decide to go after some fresh snow Pete, forget what I said about "being too mellow for my taste these days"...geeze lousie, who am I kidding... not every bc adventure needs to be a 4 hour slog in -30 degree weather under threat of avalanche, and I'm way out of hiking shape this year anyhoo. Cardigan is fun, it is mello... it's an easy ultralight hike, and you've got to get there way EARLY to get the freshies.

anyway... todd@mtanemba.org if anybody wants to do some bc boarding, I'm game.
