Anyone know of a good welder who can retrofit a titanium frame with different dropouts?
I would like it to be someone local, NH or Mass.

George Reynolds of Reynolds Welb Lab, Derry NH:

He just welded disc mounts to my ti hardtail, see the Dirt Rag thread.

Good work. He's well regarded, and very reasonable.

Neusaab,
What was the cost for the brake mount? Dean has quoted me $150, plus I need to ship the bike to them.
They do refresh the brush finish and replace the decals, so there's an upside to dealing with the manufacturer. But a big difference would make me rethink that.

Thanks Neusaab,
His home page says:
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce that the Weld Lab will no longer be accepting new orders. I am committed to servicing my existing clients; but my main focus will no longer be the bike business."
Can I use your reference as a existing client?
It would be great since since he is about 20 minutes away.
Thanks,
Dan

Are they (Dean) going to replace all the decals for that price?
I just got a used Dean frame, and would like to get their "modular dropouts" installed and new decals would be cool too.
I just e-mailed Dean before reading this reply.

In the past, Dean has done the refresh whenever I sent the frame for repair. Twice so far. Can't speak for ongoing services, and they have raised their prices recently. It's been a few years since I sent a frame back. I guess that means you need to ask them.
What frame did you buy? What'd you pay, if you don't mind my asking.

The cost for the disc tab job was $70. Though he's no longer building the ti recumbents, I think he's willing to do small jobs like this. You can certainly use my name, Tom Hong, and Ted Wojcik's too (he sent me there).
He didn't rebrush the frame but I didn't ask him to. It's hardly noticeable. If I cared, I would scotch brite it, but it's not a large enough area for me to even bother.

Dan,
If you want to make the frame SS friendly you can alway do an ENO disc hub. I just went that route to make my Waltworks into a SS.

Hey AA,
You must be reading my mind, I have thought about the Eno disc hub, how do you like it?
Did you have to use the eccentric disc adapter?

I have a half link and a Singulator, so I am going to try those first.
I just really hate the stupid singulator spring.

Dan,
I have yet to ride the bike with the wheel / mount on it but when I got it last week I slapped it on to see how it would work and it was pretty easy. I have used the non disc ENO in the past and it works great.
