View Full Version : Weekend Ride Options?
MTBME
January 12th, 2007, 10:25 AM
I've been looking at several ride options for the weekend but so far nothing firm has been posted. Mostly because of rain forecasted for Saturday morning and for Sunday afternoon. The options on the table are Groton Town Forest, Mirg (Grim ridden backwards with the energizer thrown in), and LDT with an emphasis on the Tyngsboro side of the forest. Stay tuned this weekend for a last minute posting.

I'm going to give Groton a shot tomorrow at 9 o'clock. If the weather sucks when I wake up I'll reconsider. Park at the usual town forest road entrance.

Well I showed up and road GTF. The showing was only 3, guess the weather scared a few people away. Fun ride, even in my hungover state. Only saw two other riders and two motorcyclist while there. Enjoyed the swoopy nature of the place but heard its over run with mosquitos a lot of the time.

Sounds like you left the forest to do Harveys Tour DeConservation Lands. It is a nice rolling mix of terrain. I set the alarm clock, got up, got dressed for the ride, had everything ready to go, took the dogs out, was standing around in a light rain / heavy drizzle and started rethinking everything. What really killed it for me was the night before I downloaded Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 point something. It sucked real bad. My computer was all messed up. I knew I had a lot of work in front of me to get rid of that thing and get my computer back on track. By the way, the IT group at work warned us not to download IE 7.0.

Sorry to redirect the thread, I put IE7.0 on my home computer about a wk or so ago. I had been using a different browser but it didn't give me access to my work stuff. Anyway, 6.0 on my computer had become corrupt and I had no address line. Couldn't get it back for anything. Talked to every IT guy I know and no solutions. Even reloaded it and still had the same issue. After upgrading to 7.0, which took forever even with Verizon Fiber Optic, it cleaned up all my issues. In the middle of the download there was a section called something like file cleanup, anyway I now have an address bar and everything else seems to be working fine.
What issues are you having?

David J,
Yeah I was the guy who seemed to have lived everywhere. Every time we turned around we kept running into you guys. Fun place, I think we may have gotten in 10 miles. James was having bike issues, I was hungover, and towards the end I think we all got cold. Fun stuff either way. I think Steve felt like he was dragging James and I around.

A few months ago the IT department sent us all a patch to download to prevent IE 7.0 from downloading. They said it wasn't compatible with all web sites and we might have problems. The 1st thing I noticed after loading it was every time I turned on the computer, I would get a big message telling me I wasn't protected and was vunerable. It wanted to reset all my security settings. I have been running Nortons for years and have no problems with security or viruses. So I didn't want IE 7.0 reconfiguring my system. When I viewed a new web site I'm building with 7.0 it was all messed up. I have a scrolling text message that was no longer where I put it but was now relocated, scrolling through the center of my screen. If I viewed it with firefox, netscape or IE 6.0 it looked fine. Also IE 7 gave me a desktop icon for the weather channel and I got the little weather channel theme playing every time I turned on the computer. Now I know I can delete the weather channel problem but the rest of it was too risky to hang on to.

Interesting, none of the popups or icons happen to me after I downloaded IE7. I have the pop up security issue with IE6 on my work computer. Firefox wasn't compatable with my work site, I could reach all of the stuff for the general public but could not access my work email. I forget the error. I'm sure my wife will find the problems with IE7, I rarely do any web work where she does.

I did enjoy the ride on Sunday. It was slower than I normally ride those trails, but that's OK. By the end of the ride, my knee was sore and it stayed that way for the rest of the day, so it's a good thing I didn't ride any harder.

David, I heard there's a group taking off at Groton town forest tomorrow at 9 o'clock. I think it will be too cold for my taste. I just can't keep my hands warm when it gets that cold.
