Hi,
My Psylo is leaking some oil so I figure it is time to give a fork service a try. I have read the manual for pulling it apart and it looks fine. Two questions came up as I was doing this.
1) What weight oil is best, or the differences? I read in another forum (can't find it now though) that the recommended weight isn't as good? And is any brand that much better than others?
2) If I am seeing excessive oil on stanchions, it would seem that it is just the seals at the tops that are faulty. When I look up the replacements, I can get these seals for about 20 bucks, and a 'service kit' which has o-rings and glide rings. Which the glide rings lube the stanchions I believe, not sure about the o-rings. Should I replace these as well?

I guess a last question is what have people used to measure the oil, and fill the fork? as I don't have anything handy and will need to pick something up.

Thanks!
MIke

Just did my Fox Fork with Enduro Seals, nothing but great reviews. They have everything you'll need including a syringe for measuring and replacing the oil.
http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id47.html I've also used a syringe made for injecting flavoring/whatever into meat and Turkeys which can be purchased in the kitchen dept. of most dept. stores. As far as oil weights I think its more a personal pref. thing I stuck with the recommended wt. 7.5. I used BMW motorcycle fork oil, motorcycle fork oil is the same as bike fork oil and can be had for less money. There are tons of brands check out this great old post for some info http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=155294&highlight=fork+oil

You can get syringes at CVS or any other drug store( they give them to you without the needle part) at the pharmacist counter. They measure out liquid in CC's which is very handy and when I asked how much they cost they just gave them to me- no charge.
