i used to have a friend with a wholesaler's license who could buy derailleur and brake cables and housing in bulk (as well as cable neds and stops etc.) at super prices. heck, even nashbar used to sell such thing. The friend has moved away and nashbar et al don't seem to even sell the inner cables. I did see they have what they SAy will work as SIS housing at a good price. Anybody try it?

I am building up a bike for my son and was shocked at paying $2.50/ft for SIS housing. Or $2.50 a cable for that matter. (at my LBS) Can anybody point me to a better source?

Thanks!

I've been impressed with Bikeman (for these kind of bulk items). They stock many different kinds of items in bulk like cables, patch kits, etc and since they are primarily a new england "brick & mortar" shop, I like the fact that a "ground shipped" order placed before 3PM usually arrives at my doorstep by the next afternoon.

Oh, since I'm a "fix it" junkie...I like their "name that tool" contest run every month. http://www.bikeman.com/content/view/865/30/

Try this: http://www.biketoolsetc.com/index.cgi?id=500555196141&c=Repair-Parts&sc=Cable-and-Housing

For inner cables, I don't think there is a better deal than Pricepoint's 10-paks of Jagwires.

Thanks for the tip! Looks like jsut what I wanted. Of course it isn't as cheap as wholesale but... Now if I had only had that address BEFORE I build that last bike.

I wonder, If somebody (me?) were to place an oder for a whole bunch of stuff like the bulk housing ($2/meter), cable stops ($0.30 ea) and such, would other people on this forum be interested in sharing? I don't see myself needing 50 meters of cable housing in the next year or five but sure would like to reap the benefits of having bought it cheap. I know I would change my stuff more often if I didn't have to drop $30 to do it each time.

Thoughts?

I'd be good for 30ft or so, I guess. I'm not sure how much I'd really need? hmmm.
