Let me preface by saying that I'm normally only a Dirt Rag and Bike Culture East reader. But, I was on vacation and Mountain Bike Action was the only mag I could find at the beach in N.C. ....

BUT...It was nice to see some East Coast coverage in their mag.
In the latest issue, there was an article titled, "Black Diamond Bonanza" about the trails in New England.
The article opens with a photo of two riders wearing NEMBA yellow jerseys.

Wondered if anyone knows what type of helmet the lead rider is wearing on pg 56 of the article. (Black with orange flames on it)
I've been on a search for the perfect "Trail" helmet for quite some time. Something with lower coverage in the rear and with a FUNCTIONAL visor. Something that can deflect green briars and the occasional branch when riding tight singletrack (we have much of the same conditions here in SE PA as you do up there) as well as block the occasional rainshower and the sun.
All of those Xen's and Hex's are great designs but are still small in the visor dept. Man, I should just go find my old school Troy Lee visor and velcro it on!
I'm not a big huck rider. Just "aggressive trail" riding.
Please don't tell me that this rider's helmet is the now defunct Giro Semi! That was my best guess. Hoping that it was something new as it looked like just the ticket!

Thanks!

Yes it's a semi mx. The semi was actually a pretty horrible helmet for bike use, as it is certainly the hottest helmet I have ever used in my life. I found it to warm for even dirtjump use. Giro still makes the exact same helmet for their snow line, and they call it the "9".
