I just purchased slick tires for my MTN bike, and was wondering if they are going to fit on the 26 inch rims, I bought 26x 1.4? , old size 26x 2.35 Yes, I have no idea what I am doing?

They will fit. The 26 in the 26 x 1.4 refers to the diameter of the wheel. So theoretically any tire that is 26 x anything will fit. I've been thinking about putting slicks on my old HT for road rides, let me know how you like them.

Mahalo,
I will let you know how it works out. I rode with slick tires a few years back and I really liked them. But, someone else did all the technical work for me, so I didn't think about what I was doing and just ordered them.:)

I got a set of semi-slicks for my hard tail that I use to commute to my high-impact workout. Faster rolling than knobbies, but a littls slower than slicks, and I still have some tread for when the traction is less than optimal.

They should be fine. Today's mtb rims ae quite narrow so a skinny tire will hold. You will need a much smaler innertube though. Your LBS will have what you need.
