I'm a bit torn about my feelings on this. On the one hand i think it appalling behavior deserving of arrest and incarseration or at the very least a good spanking. On the other hand i am awestruck and a little envious of the courage required to go about in the buff.
The individual I came upon was walking with clothes in hand on the double track just above the new beaver dam which has flooded a huge portion of Harold Parker. I was stunned at first and considered stopping and turning about. I think he was not expecting someone to come along as fast as i did and tried to retreat into the trees to redress. He looked so scared i figured him harmless and continued in his direction. He turned and faced my approach and i simply said "nice day for it isn't it?"
He replied in the affirmative and i suggested he might try a different area of the park as this road had alot of traffic. He thanked me and went on his way as did I.
As i considered the events in the days that followed i found myself not so much creeped out as wondering just what it might be like to disrobe and wander the wild as God intended.
Maybe, just once.

At least he seemed to be simply enjoying his presence in the wild. In the Fells? He would have been with his buddy. I have come across THAT way too many times. (at least twice ;)).
A long while ago my wife and I were bike touring in Denmark. While waiting for a train in one lovely city we went into the city park and came across a pair of strapping young teen age boys, walking along in the buff, enjoying the day. When they realized we were Americans (presumably they heard us talking but it might have been our bike helmets) they came over to practice their english ans asked how we were enjoying the nature. My wife was quite amused!

Yeah Jean and I encountered a similar individual with just his pants off riding along the river loop...a fairly hi-trafficked trail in Mines Falls on a week night. I didn't see this guy as a run of the mill naturalist but as a somewhat disturbed individual. Harold parker also has the buddy system Heckler. I think these folks all need to find less public venues to practice there hobbies. Jean and I canoe and you will encounter full body sun-bathers on back pounds and rivers. this is ok just be respectful of others. I have begun leading a beginners ride in MFP on Thursday and we had a family with 3 young kids with us the other night. I don't really want to run into naked mountain biker man or a tag team while with the kids out there. Probably these guys choose the areas sort of with the vicarious thrill of being caught in mind.

when I was living out in vail, we came across naked people all the time on the trails, some couple having fun, some just having a picnic and some sun. its just the norm out there, along with a few elk and bears.
but doing that here might be something a little more distressing, #1 because that is a criminal offense called lude and laciviuos (sp?) and will get you put on the sex offenders registry, as will getting caught taking a "wee-wee" outside.
just my 2 cents anyways.....

The state and local police have a special unit which monitors perverts. This behavior is unacceptable.

I myself, often partake of a skinny dip during rides on hot summer days. I make sure I find a secluded spot, though.....it's very refreshing....

Why aren't there ever women doing stuff like this? Plenty of naked guy wierdos traipsing about, but never a chick. I would like to see a naked woman... on a horse... long blonde hair flowing... lightly freckled complexion... fair skin... Norweigen accent... hopelessly lost in the forest... extremely grateful to whomever might come along on their Cannondale and who can promise lead her back to civilization.

Was it Earth Day?
Lots of naked Wiccans to be expected on Earth Day.

I suspect he wasn't "hiking" given that it was at Harold Parker. The parking lots and certain trails are know spots for anonymous encounter.
I saw a woman hiking at Lynn once w/out a top. She was an older woman, who had probably spent lots of time outdoors and was rather "weathered". It was not all I would have hoped for.
Sexual activity in public is one thing, nudity is another. I have no problem w/ nudity, I just wonder why it's always ugly/fat people (usually men) that want to do it ;D

You could always Google/Images "naked in woods" to keep the fantasy alive... safe filter off, of course.
You're welcome ahead of time. Unless you get canned for peeking. Then I'm sorry.
