Anyone know if Bear Notch still has snow? I'd guess that the road isn't open yet regardless, but was wonder if it was passable by bike.

Still snow as of earlier this week (as has Passaconaway Road), but it's been warm, so it won't be long...

Any idea how much and for how long? I'd really like to scoot over it tomorrow to get to the Kanc from Bartlett.
Anyone up for a notch ride tomorrow?

I was up a week ago last Sunday, took a look and left. There was nothing in the field. A local told me that the only trails with snow were up back by the experimental forest. You had to walk a ways back to get to the trails. Since I had my seven year old with me I decided to ski the outlets instead.
(Sorry I didn't stop and say hi Radair)

Rode over Bear Notch Road on Friday. There was still lots of ice/snow but most of the way there were slivers of clear pavement. We did, however, have to so a half dozen stretches of solid ice/snow up to 100ft or so long. Fun stuff with the skinny tires.
This was nothing compared to Franconia Notch where MrsCouch and I did almost 5 solid miles of uphill ice/snow. That came at the 60 mile point in an 80 mile ride.

Yech, this had to be on the "bike path", eh? Please let me know when you're going to be around again, would love to join you.

Yep, the bike path through Franconia Notch was miserable, though I was amazed how much traction I retained on my cross bike with slicks.
We're looking at a bunch of attacks on the Notches of NH for the season. The coup being the following;
Start in Gorham->RT2->RT115->RT302->JeffersonNotch->CrawfordNotch->BearNotch->PinkhamNotch->Gorham.
Should be about 113 miles and 13k+' of climb. Here forth know as the "BakersDozen" ride.
