Hi all,

You've seen that we're running into a few spammers. There posts will be removed and their access blocked to the extent possible.

Please us the "REPORT TO MODERATOR" button at the bottom of a spam post so I can remove them ASAP.

Please don't reply to them. It just wastes everyone's bandwidth.

Thanks!

pk

Some people might be interested in the products and services offered by these "spammers". And why must we attach a doragotory name to people who are mearly taking part in the long valued tradition of free marketing in this capatalistic society. I say let the people decide. This is a democracy, if people are viewing the posts and answering them it must mean that it is content and subject pertinent to the wishes of the forum members.
Whats the problem really? Your "bandwidth" argument is pretty weak considering
1. Top 10 threads by replies dominated by political argument
2. Top posters being eclipsed by those who post almost exclusively to the political and off bike threads
3. Top 10 threads by views by post dominated by political argument
4. Top Boards, well you guesed it

At least the ones i saw were selling bike stuff.

And how much bandwidth do each of us get? I want to be sure not to waste anymore.

Are you serious? Today someone posted to every catagory "SPAM" for phones. I dont want to see that crap on this forum so I for one complained. I know that some people dont like the non-bike content but there are 2 catagories for non bike stuff. I dont like it so I dont read it. If "SPAMMERS" want to post stuff for sale they can do it in the misc for sale section in the classifieds not willy nilly everywhere

Spamming is the online equivalent to telemarketers and junk mail. I don't like any of those things and if there is some way of not having to put up with them, I'm casting my vote in favor of removing them.

But if you think you might be missing out on something good, you could always put your email address out for all to see and you will be in spam heaven.

Yeah, get rid of them, IMO.

I know the guy yesterday will be pleased to receive some solicited information to help with his acne, hemorrhoids, and bad breath. Such is the risk of posting your email address in a spam message. Gave me a few laughs anyway.

PK, a few lines of text don't take up any bandwidth. Particularly in a thread that will be deleted.

"Oh Priss" As you have been told many times! If you don't like the political stuff stay off the political forum! If these are the top 10 threads as you say then they have many readers...and frankly you are one of them. I have seen your responses on those threads...usually bitching about how you don't like politics mixed with your biking related stuff. But it is apparent that you are a very political person seeming to enjoy the attention that your obstinate view points get you.

PK Spam and that is what that stuff is, sucks! And speaking for this People! I get enough of it. Please continue to remove it when you see fit. If a vendor wants to post in the appropriate "for sale" section fine. Those who are interested can go there. You are doing us a service.
Thank you
Harry

I think I've checked out the political section @5 times. I barely have enough time to read and post about bike stuff, let alone think about how politics affects me and the world. If other people want to do that, that's fine. I'm not into and stay away. I gotta admit that Rych's posts over there have kept me entertained.

Spam , it has to go. if you don't get rid of it ASAP , the Spammers will pick up on it and will start flodding the forums . Comercial Spammers are Good , very good at what they do! Pains in the Ass yes, but technically very good.

as or what Priss said, I just read into in in the political forum , you just hear the same dribble out of the same poeple over and over and over and over .............. ( ex ( EX. "bush Sucks , "clinton sucks " , "blame the Dems", "blame the republicans" , it is always the same , just like spam. it is why I don't bother going into the polital forum , it is just spam for the same retoric. and I come here for bike stuff.

Are you serious?

No, i am not serious. Please note long string of smillies and botttom of the post.

And yes i do enjoy the attention. But i have not posted in those threads in quite a while. I wonder Harry, if you would refer to my comments as bitching if i was'nt a girl? Perhaps thats a subject for an of the bike thread of its own.

Maybe my brain works wrong. I thought others might see the similarities between all the off the bike type content, weather obvious spam or the constant political propaganda regurgitated by forum members who seem to be on the site for the sole porpose of forwarding their party agenda.
It just seemed funny to me, that one was ok and the other was not, and that no one saw the simillarities. I guess i think to much.

edit: just saw splats post when i posted mine, i am not alone afer all :-*

"Harry, if you would refer to my comments as bitching if i was'nt a girl?"

Hmmm no! Actually I believe men and women both bitch equally! And I have heard complaints by both as being referred to as bitching! But I will apologize for even implying it...due to sexist conatations. I think that many times things get taken out of context or misinterpretted here on the forum we have to be cautious about what we write.

For the record I generally don't read the political stuff. On occasion I have been drawn in when it is a hot-button issue for me...and yes there is a lot of redundancy. I have no problem with people who don't like it and say so. It is the continuous complaining from those who say they don't like it and yet seem to read it that gets me. I think PK did the correct thing by segregating the politicos.

Avoiding that is the hard part, at least for me. Especially when priss wants support (attention).
