I am going to Houston, Texas on Friday to visit some relatives...anyone know of any place to ride outside the city limits? I have a bike down there to use but no clue of where to go....

flat state so might just have to stay on the road :-\

I figure bike riding in the days and margaritas and riding the mechanical bulls at night ;D

I rode two places in Houston, one is a park right in the city, I don't remember the name, but there were a LOT of riders and a lot of "gravity cavities". It was common practice to yell right before you headed down the gravity cavity to ensure a biker didn't start down the other side at the same time. I think they yelled "biker up" or something similar. Considering how flat the Houston area was, the park was pretty hilly and pretty challenging.

I also rode at Sam Houston state park, its huge. I think it was around an hour outside of Houston. It was very sucky. A lot of sand and very flat. When I rode there it was over a 100 degrees and 98% humidity. I ran out of water, and had to ride without my helmet for fear that my brains were boiling. Not a good ride.

Hi. A NEMBA friend pointed me to this thread.

Yes Htown does have a 'few' trails.
Memorial Park is the best for 'in houston'. It's the Ho'chi min.
as stated for safety be sure to call out when going into blind corners and the "gravity cavities" because the trail is open to any direction rider. Yelling 'RIDER' is sufficient.
Huntsville State Park is about an hour north and is a nice easy ride.
Double lake is also about the same but it's a beginner trail.
1 1/2 hours to 2 hours there's rocky hill ranch and Warda. Both nice trails. RHR is moderate difficulty but not bad and Warda has no climbing but is twisty single track goodness.
lake bryan north west of town is also a nice trail.
feel free to PM if your looking somebody to show you around.
Tony

OHHH depending on where you are I’ve found that Café Adobe on shepherd is the bestest place for margarita’s in town.
