What a ride we had on Sunday, in Otis. Starting out in the picturesque falling snow, 15 of us following Tim (Scholz?) for 2+ hours( that's all I could take--I still hadda work the rest of the day and night) on those fun twisty trails some of which I believe were brand spankin new judging from the remnants of live vegetation we were rolling over......
Even cutting it short and heading back early with the Old Coot and Jose, a Ti Unicoi rider from Attleboro, I managed to clock according to my new toy a Polar hr monitor,
:approx 2:20( forgot to turn it on at first), average hr 151, max 181(how'd I do that? thats scary. I've turned 29 years old 17 times now----do that math ;D ), riding in my zone for an hour and above my zone for about the same, with about 18 minutes for breaks.
That was one frisky group. After a jackrabbit start with Jose dedicating himself to being sweep, Bill offered him the free tip of the day--"don't try to keep up, that will only make them go faster." Well, with me defaulting to 'semi-sweep', we then made a commitment to go slower and try out that theory--that the longer we make the fast guys wait, the slower they will go. Well, that didnt work so we bit it and did the best we could. Stops were short and sweet with minimal time for conversation............
Man, my calves and hamstrings were tight! That kind of rolly full-speed ahead riding gets me all crampy......nothing that 800 mg Ibu didnt take care of.........
The trails were very lightly covered with the aforementioned freshly falling snow, there was NO ice, and traction was almost as good as dry. The bailout ride was, however, in the pouring rain for a couple of miles, ON rte 28 back to the bank.
Of course we all had a great time thanks to CCNemba and Tim and as far as I know, everyone else got back without incident.
Anyways, hopefully I can get the few pix I took uploaded here....................

FYI--I wish I could buy Ted's operation--I couldnt afford to buy a bag of beans today--that's a great rumour though.......and YES, the TW 5x5 demo is still my current ride--ride it!!
