New to me bike for 2006 - small Surly Karate Monkey - should be a fun ride!

I need to cut the steerer tube a bit, and I need to throw on a 118mm bottom bracket and she'll be golden. I'm excited to try out this 29er in 2006.
Oh yeah and I also picked this up via craigslist.org in early December - she rides so smooth! 1992 Serotta Colorado LT!

NICE Surly Mark, you should love it. You may never look at your 26" bikes the same way again after spending some time on that bike. The Serotta is pretty sweet as well. As far as new rides go I'll be on my new (to me) bassboat green homegrown ss. I need to take some pics of that bike...
Did you get the KM fork as well? If you did get one try it rigid, it'll blow your mind how good the bike feels with a rigid fork. The bigger wheel allows for a better than normal rigid ride (compared to a 26" with rigid).

I didn't get the rigid fork with the frame purchase. It came with an MX Comp - ebay'd that to a guy in Maine who threw it on a Soma Juice (another nice 29er frame). I then got a KM fork for a bit, but then sold that fork in order to finance the Reba purchase. I may try to pick up a rigid KM fork again come spring, especially if I get a different geared 29er and turn the KM into a dedicated SS.
You know me and bikes so this scenario might just happen. :)
And BDee - I no longer have any 26" wheeled bikes. Just 29" wheels now.

Here's my "new to me" ride for '06: gee whiz it's a Schwinn and it's a SS - what a surprise ::) The front wheel is temporary until a Surly hub comes in at the LBS. I'm going to lace it to the X517 that came with the awful front hub.

Nice Bike Brendan!
Are all your bikes single speeds?
The simplicity appeals to me so much, but I'm not sure I can commit to going sans gears on the Karate Monkey at this point.

Thx - no they are not all SS, just 3 of them. The 'cross bike and the Jamis HT are geared. The simplicity and the realization that I will never be that into FR is why I went more towards the SS/rigid thing. The KM rigid is capable of a lot of technical riding. I was amazed at what I could ride on Sunday at Arcadia on the "ledges" on Mt Tom trail. I had never hit that trail but Jisch showed me the way. I love technical riding like rocks and steeps etc. but I don't spend a lot of time in the air so rigid SS works most of the time. When I ride the Jamis with the 120mm Marzocchi I appreciate that travel a lot ;D PAW is someone else into tech stuff and can attest to the SS rigid advantages in a lot of the riding conditions around here.
