Today's ride at the Snip - frozen, ice etc. Good stud conditions except for the part where it was clear - those homemade studs pick up leaves pretty well.

Looks nice. We got out at Dracut (MA) this morning and the singletrack was great!! We ended up riding an extra hour since it was going so well. Have to bring the camera next time to snap a few pics.
3 went, 1 with Nokians and they helped some, but most of the ride was ok without. It was more of a piece of mind thing.
Just finished a homemade studded last night and want to try it out someplace local first to make sure I don't lose a tube right away.....

Nice weather to ride today though!!

I just got back from Ft Rock, it's been 30 whole days since I was last out on the trails, and man did it feel good!
Wahoo!
No studs (yet) and no spills to report.

Rode at Fort Rock early this morning..Conditions quite variable, lots of crunchy snow but also lots of bare ground. Really didnt need the Nokians (piece of mind). Some pockets of unpacked snow required more work but nothing of significance. A few trails were not "broken" out but because the conditions were so good, breaking them was no big deal. Didnt go across 101 to Henderson but I was able to ride for almost 2 hours. Longest and most aerobic ride of the "winter"! These were the best riding conditions I have found so far this month. Impending rain wont help but when the cold returns this place will ROCK!!

Rode Exeter again 12/29...conditions are getting faster, less snow, more open ground and less ice. Only rode the Fort Rock side and can make a 2hr ride out of it without retouching any trails!!

Studs really arent necessary although they do offer a piece of mind (and control) for those long icy sections that without them you might ride on the sides of the trails (and deals with the brush)...

Even with a few inches of snow due tonite, I am confident that the trail conditions will last thru the next week

Rode in HP this morning. From Berry pond lot out fire roads, unibomber, around Salem ponds and back. Homemade studded tires made riding down the center of fire roads a breeze and nice to have on few icy spots on single track. Best conditions I've seen since the snow and melting.
I did pass a hunter out near Salem pond. Don't forget to wear your orange.
Anyone ride other areas of HP?
How were the conditions?

HP was good all over then cause i was mainly on the rte 125 side and a little over on those new trails and the one with all the trees down on it. Some of the trails near the beaver ponds were more flooded and breaking through the crust into the mud was a real drag.

There were some kids with their dads out on the ice near the old fish hatch shack. The edge was water so i didnt venture out. They seemed confident though and were playing hockey.

Lots of ice in FOMBA land. The fireroads were solid ice. Trails were 10% bare, 40% ice,50% snow.

I would say studs a must.
