Anyone know if there is any place ridable in So NH or No MA? Maybe packed down by snowmobiles or snowshoers.
Dog Town & Trail of Tears were mentioned, but they are too far. Thr fomba fire roads are good from what I have heard, any other places? Harold Parker? Bear Brook? Lowell SF? Pawtuckaway?
I've got a 4 day Christmas weekend and I dying to go riding!
Thank you :)

Ive done some of HP but not enough to get in more then an hour.
Which is about as long as i can keep my toes warm anyway
Rain coming may pack or remove some high spots.
I'll lead a ride when i think a group can get some miles in without constant slipandslide

Ten of us hit the snomobile trails at the Montague plains (junction of Rt. 2 and I-91) last night.
Studs were a good idea - wet fall yields big ice on the trails, but most of the trails were pretty good. Some less traveled you had to be careful to stay in the track else you punch into 4" under the crust.
Same is true of the trails a bit farther south down the valley. We might bring the bikes up to my folks' outside Keene and give Pisgah a shot Saturday afternoon.

Fire roads in Harold Parker are packed down enough for some decent riding. Trails close to parking areas of course are not in as good a shape due to walkers, doggie du etc but if you gotta have a ride, its actually getting better each day. Off the fire roads the trails are not as ridable although some trails are more passable than others...some require HUGE effort and stamina to keep moving.
As long as the temps stay below freezing at nite and not much above freezing during the day, the conditions should be getting better as the weekend approaches.

I rode Groton Town Forest today and it has a few miles that are packed down pretty nicely. Had some trouble with a broken seat so didn't ride them all. But will be tomorrow morning.
I bet Lowell is probably OK on the fireroads as it gets snowmobile traffic as well. Hopefully someone can confirm that as I was planning to hit that next week.
I also want to check out Haystack in Groton (close to home so easy to check) since it also gets snowmobile traffic.

Bob and I got out to Lowell Dracut SF yesterday. There is enough snowmobile pack to ride for maybe 2 hours. I suggest studs though. I hit an icy spot on the fireroad and went down HARD.

If it's Friday, it must be FOMBA.
The fire roads all were packed down snow & ice, the studs came in very handy. The only single track ride-able was Fire Line & Lady Slipper.
FL was good for about half way, to right past the big boulder on the reroute, then the tracks veared off the trail & through the woods to one of the fire roads. The short cut went down a steep hill which was a blast to ride down slipping & sliding through the snow. :D
LS was ride-able the whole way. Although I had to walk some of the little hills because there was not enough traction in the loose snow.
Winter single track on Fire Line.

Nice, did you get to check out Woodpecker? I would have thought that was very ride-able.

It looked like someone had walked it but no tire tracks.
Hemlock had tire tracks & I did try it, but the snow was too loose, so I turned around
