How ironic, your wife must work for a large oil company, and they gave out bicycles?
Maybe the company is owned by "W", no I guess he would have given out mountain bikes.
Lucky.

All 100 of my employees with over a year of service get about a grand at Thanksgiving in addition to a gift basket next week.
I give myself the same as I give everyone else.

When i was hired my employer paid for health care but before my first check they decided that the employees should pay $75 a week into it. THe memo from the owner said they would make adjustments in the year end bonuses to offset the loss in wages.
The week before thankgiving i got the same thing i get most years.
Laid Off.
Any one need a Construction superintendent?

My bonus was to not get laid off which I am very grateful for. Also my company was acquired, so I am probably safe in the near term.
Any experience as a contractor on new housing construction? Wife wants to move closer to the shore and I want to build.

I work for an up and coming telecommunication startup superstar, and I don't expect to get anything for a bonus as was the case last year. We did all get nice winter jackets recently with the company logo embroided on it. I do have a yankee swap coming up so all hope is not lost. And I also have a LeMond road bike but I had to pay for mine.

OK, I'll play.
$200. For bringing in over $400K in gross sales and single handedly doubling the size of my company.
The upside is that the commission structure is pretty generous, and I am finally seeing some daylight from a mountain of debt brought on by nearly a year of what I call under-employment. But still no Sinister Ridge.
So Happy Solstice to all!

Bonus, good one, yea right. I work for the fattest, most bloated computer company in the world. We don't even have a holiday party, not that I really want to spend any more time with these people than I have to. This year our holiday bonus was "your health benefits costs are going up 33%".

If I count my commissions, I'll do OK in bonuses, however there will not be a christmas bonus UNLESS a deal I am working gets signed by end of year (which I doubt, looks like Feb 15 to me).
My bonuses paid for a vacation to Tremblant, a downpayment on our outback, a new road bike, a roof rack for the outback, partial new wardrobe (ties et al), and a large sum towards my wedding next year.
Signing a $10M deal got me $10k earlier this year.
Cheers,
-Andrew

I work for a 250,000 employee conglomerate and there will be no bonuses handed out. Like others here I'm sure they will find a way to "bone-us" in the benefit department though. The latest one was use it or lose it vacation time each year and no selling back vacation time anymore...nice.

My company pays a bonus of between 3-4% of your gross earnings over your previous 5 years of employment. Your gross earnings include any bonuses (referal, sales), so some people bring in $20,000 for a bonus.
The company is one of the oldest privately held software developers in the world and we're based in Boston area. The company is profitable year in, year out, and growing at a steady pace. We're always hiring for marketing, sales, service, development, implemenation, etc. A lot of job openings are on the entry level side, but there's room to move up. PM me if you want some more info.
That sucks to hear of cutbacks and lack of bonuses at other places. I guess I'll have to tone it down when I bitch about my work situation.

Well I am not getting any bonus either. And quite frankly I dont want one. When I get paid every week for doing the job I am expected to do then that is the only compensation I expect. A bonus would be for what, some kind of special gift for doing what I am paid to do anyway? Or perhaps cause I did something extra(ya right) and they want to reward me, if so then why at this time of year and not when the extra was done. The entire thing smacks of socio-religous archaic superiorty masser slave relationships. I dont need your stupid gift(which you will use against me in the future) to make me feel good about working here. My boss is not the supreme benefactor to be dropping gifts upon me at Christmass like I am some child.
In fact why dont I just give 5% of my wage back to the man for all the time i wasted on him this year on line when i should have been working.

wow you must be fun at parties ;D
My company gave out a bonus because we exceeded our fiscal plan. We all did a good job and we are all being rewarded (not just the people at the top). I find it refreshing that people get something extra when the company is doing well.

My bonus this year was to get sense enough to stop working for the man and get back to working hard for myself, cause lord knows right now ain't no work gettin done. I have been at my present place of employment for a little over a year, small company. The owner has weeks when he will bearly acknoledge my presence in the same room. But I do love the CEO fellow cyclist good guy. Priss I thought THE MAN had me down. If u are always that pissed I gots to ride with U!!!!

I suppose that's a bonus. We will throw a party for the kids at our school on Friday. They tell us things they would like us to make and we divide up the list. For some of them it is the only chance to have someone make them their favorite foods. It is always fun to see them enjoying themselves. I guess being in public service does have other benefits.

The place I'm stuck at for now (I'm one of the few 'legacy' employees left over from a company they 'merged' with before laying off 90% of) has a cute way of doing things - there's a certain amount of money for bonuses and it's distributed from the top down. So the obscenely overpaid top guys get bonuses for keeping the stock in the toilet, while the people doing the work get ****. Which explains why I spend so much time surfing the net :P
