I rode BH last Sun--was that the first day we didnt get rain?
The hills were gushing rivers down trails I've never seen water on, ever....... But for the most part, the wet spots were wet, the wetter spots were wetter..........and the dry stuff, well, mostly dry.....
Wompatuck, today, was surprisingly dry, with the exceptions of around the rez and the streams that feed it. Again, the wet spots........
The woods in both places are effin' beautiful right now, with just the right amount of leaf on the trail, and the colors.......
In Wompy, I cut aa good-size deadfall out of the way, only to find three others on the same trail ahead of me! Imagine my disappointment, thinking that I personally had cleared the way for my brethren and sistren to continue inhindered at breakneck speed down one of my favorite trails in there, only to find myself out of time.......I will go back next week and the next, to finish the job......anyone else who may want to help, it's the 1/2 mile railroad straightaway that heads back towards HQ, on the left side of the park. I can get more specific, but I dont have a mapp handy now. Also, there is a NEMBA trail work day Nov 6th which will involve building/renovating bridges and such, as well as some cutback work.... SEMASS will be there with the trailer full of tools, and lunch and rides will follow......stay tuned for more info.
Also, its almost time for an early Sunday Mountain Bike Church Doubleheader, around mid-November.......

Do you mean the railroad trail going towards the 'annex' area?
Not the 'new' one from the MBTA area.

More damage coming this Tuesday and Wednesday.
Alot to fix on Nov. 6th. trails day, besides cutting back the fire access road.
Find that map yet?

Been riding Womp all week long. A lot of trees across trails. Will be making a list of all trail conditions for the 'park super' & NEMBA work party.
Nov. 6th maintenance day accomplished more than expected. Fifteen people showed. Steve C found has saw that he used to cut that downed tree this week.
Trail problems still exist at Wompy, ie downed trees, logs across trails, water hazards, and broken bridges.
If anyone finds any unacceptable condition, the 'park super' would like to know about it so he can have it fixed. Drop a note on the clip board in the visitors' center. Remember to indicate where the problem is, using the posted 'intersection' signs.
