Hi
A little background... I've live in Boston for 6 years. Spent a few as a messenger and recently got back into mountain biking. I'm looking for local trails either accessible via the bike or by train. I do not have a car at the moment so I lack a way to leave the city.
I've been tooling around at the Arnold Arboretum but the trails are short (maybe 1/8 mile max however there's a lot to choose from). Obviously I'd prefer something a bit more consistent. Is there anything near the city worth checking out?
If you know the "T" stop that would be very helpful too.
thanks
Rob

It is not near the city but if you take the Franklin commuter train to the last stop, you can ride up the powerline to the Franklin State forest. Some decent riding,it takes acouple of hours to string together a good loop.

It's not an easy thing wanting to mountain bike while living in the city without a transporation.

Try making friends with someone who has a car.... ;)

The Lowell/Dracut state forest has excellent mountain biking and is just a short ride from the commuter rail in Lowell.

If you take an Ashmont Train south on the Red Line, get off at Capen St, Milton Sta. to Eliot, right to blue Hills Parkway to edge of blue hills reservation. About one mile of road ride. You can get a BH trail map on this site and qoogle map the streets.
