Hi all, RI NEMBA is holding a free event this Sunday at 10:00 in Lincoln Woods State Park in Lincoln RI. This is a multisport day highlighting some of the recreational activities available at Lincoln Woods. RICKA, EMS and Providence Bike have some gear available to try out, as well as the Kayaking opportunities. Oh yeah and there will be food of course.
I know we've had a lot of rain but LW drains increibly well and should be in great shape. I'll be leading a fun technical XC ride and we will have rides for all levels. Bring your big bike if you like really technical freeride type riding because there is plenty of it at LW. The event starts at 10:00 on the 16th and will run rain or shine.
Also, if you are into bouldering bring your gear there are so many spots to climb all I would have to do is point you into the woods! The weather, as of now, is looking good. The winds should dry things out nicely.
PS - we do share some of the trails with equestrians who operate public trail rides on the property (State owned stable) so be sure to follow the standard protocol, i.e. stop and keep talking so they don't get nervous. The stable people are super, super cool but a little common courtesy always goes a long way! :)
If you know LW well and would like to lead a ride let me know (PM here).
Directions:
From RI take 146 to the lincoln woods exit (should be Twin River road - either way there are signs for LW). From 146 north take a left, from 146 south take a right off the exit and head straight into the park. Take a right at the "T" intersection and head down toward the water (around a left hand bend in the road - 146 will be above you to the right). We will be set up near the beach area in site 76A - should be tents etc. set up.
From Boston - take 95s to 295 to the 146s exit and follow the above directions.
From CT - uh, you can't get here from there ;D Seriously, try 395 to rte 6 to 95n to 146n to the LW exit (twin river road) and follow the above directions. Or 95n if that's convenient to you.
