Many thanks to all of you who helped with Trail Building this weekend at FOMBA and
Bear Brook State Park.
Mountain Bikers beware when riding at FOMBA, the Fireline Trail is another mile
longer, making it close to three miles. FOMBA's Resevoir Dogs jumped out of bed
on Saturday morning and punched in another mile of new FOMBA Single Track before
noontime. The new singletrack "Boulder Loop" is an extension of the existing
FireLine Trail. So there's no new trail or signs to look for, just ride the Fireline
Trail and it will find you. No this isn't another fast and flowing trail like Woodpecker. My test riders
say that The Boulder Loop kicks butt and is definitely not for the novice rider.
The tread is still a little soft and can definately use some riding in, so get out
and ride. This trail should be prime for Turkey Burner. Next FOMBA Trail Day is
October 29th, same place, same time.
On Sunday the SeaCoast Chapter of NEMBA, with help from the Central NH NEMBA, went
to Bear Brook State Park and rerouted a fall line section of the Carr Ridge Trail
just above the intersection of the Cascade Trail. The original trail although fun
to ride, did not manage water run off well and over the years had become quite eroded.
With permission from NH DRED, the SeaCoast Chapter built a new section of trail
that switchbacks its way down the ridge and should manage water much better than
the old section of trail had. I didn't get chance to test ride it myself (My bike
is vacationing in Moab for a couple of weeks), and I haven't received feedback from
my test riders yet, but my guess is that this new section will be pretty fun to
ride.
