If you look real hard you can see the Virgin Mary in that steak. I think you might want to put that on E Bay Bill.

Is that a BGE, Bill?
We should have a NEMBA q off. Pick a camping location, price of admission (and voting) is a six or twelve pack. Each rider brings a sixer, we supply the Q, the grand champion has bragging rights. Everyone has beer, good q' and good riding around. Deal?
Cheers,
-Andrew

Yes Andrew that is a BGE, but it is not mine. I just googled the pic for the thread. See my baby below.
Q and Ride is an awesome idea. And while the thought of a competition repels me, I think if it is for the enjoyment of others then i could get past it.
I havent done a butt yet. If there is no interest shown then i wont do one for the nembafest sleepover either. You need about a dozen friends to warrent the effort and quantity resulting from a full butt.
I feel it only fair to warn you. I have a number of successfull vegitarian interventions to my credit.

I would almost make the trek down to Nembafest for decent Q. Being from the South, I have been gravely disappointed in everything I have found in New England. I am sad to say that the best yet is fast food.
I am also encouraged that you present a smoker. Grilling a burger is not BBQ!
If you guys ever make it to Northeast Arkansas, try Couch's. Best sauce ever.

There are a few NEMBA BBQ masters. Jaime that posts on the forum runs a mean smoker. A little while back he invited a bunch of us for a ride then BBQ (ribs, pulled pork & chicken thighs) and it was hands down the best I have ever had. Don’t forget Redbones owner (& BBQ guru) Rob Gregory is a NEMBA member and generous benefactor to the organization.

Jaime, if I think this is the right person, competes with Chris Hart from iQue and would absolutely kick my ass. I know this :D
NEMBAFest is out of the question for me this year only because I have to go to a Wedding Expo, as we start shopping for vendors for our wedding.
I get about 12 people per butt at home as well, we could do ribs or chicken too. If we could get 24 folks, we could make it happen!
The competetion is only a gag to get people to come eat REAL 'cue and ride bikes. Heck, we could leave the competing out of it and just sit around and cue it up.
Cheers,
-Andrew

Always wondered about Redbones and NEMBA. The bike valet made me curious. Redbones was the first date my wife and I had. Both BBQ lovers. It is definitely number 2 for what I have tried in NE. I keep trying to tell them that the okra needs to be cut smaller before frying but no one listens!
A new place up on route 1 is called Dave's BBQ. It is a chain from the midwest. I use to really enjoy that when I lived in Iowa. Haven't gotten down to this one yet though.
As for wedding vendors, we had Tennessee BBQ cater the rehearsal dinner (wife said NO to the reception). It was really good.

Assuming the weather holds out, Gleece and I would be down with the Q.
We'll also be camping with 2-3 others at least, and I could ask them as well... should I?

Last year we had a big group and it was a lot of fun and work. I enjoy both and am not opposed to hosting.
However.
I am dirt poor this year, and can not provide as i have in the past. So maybe we can make a menu and people can bring what we need and i can cook it. I am going down early Saturday so if we are to get this together it has to be done quickly. Can we get 12 interested folks by 4pm Friday?

I can bring something that doesn't need to be cooked ahead of time or delivered early (this time I'll be busy all day and rushing down as early as I can)
So.... corn, rolls, how about sweet potatoes? ... whatever, just let me know!
I'm also happy to pitch in for all of those incidentals that'll add up, too. Should someone be in charge of paper goods, or how does that work?
Hey Toddski, you in on this?

I am considering the impact of the tropical storm on everyones plans.
Is it going to blow 60mph down there and drop a tree or limb on someones tent.

Hope I was just dreaming.

There will be two of us partaking in the feast.
I'll bring both corn on the cob and sweet potatoes. If I get my act together, I'll make a cilantro butter for the cobs, too.
Let me know how many to buy for by tomorrow morning, please!
Z
PS - With very little effort I will be able to bring at least $250 in contributions Sunday. People seem really eager to help!

I have looked at the weather and considered the effect of a tree limb falling through my camper.
I am going to come down in the afternnoon to set up instead of the early am. This will prevent the 9 hour "low and slow" required for pulled pork at the Saturday dinner. I will still cook but probably go with the beer can chicken and some other 2hour type stuff.
I will bring the Butt anyway. I am thinking of setting up the grill near the stunts and cooking on Sunday while the fest is ongoing. Then I can share with the volenteers who work so hard doing the clean up after the event.
