The last couple of weeks my buddy and I have ridden out to what we believe is the Tri-State marker in Douglas.

We noticed a trail heading away marked North / South trail with Rhode Island on the marker.

Does anyone have any info on this one? What type of riding, is it worth following, etc.

Thanks, John

definitly worth riding if you like techy, tho the tri-state marker is nowhere near the ri/mass border marker that i think you are referring to. tri-state marker is like 4 ft tall, shaped like wash. monument.

easy to get a little lost back there, tho it is only ri--not the sahara desert. i can try explaining the route i take if interested--good loop

Great, we'll have to keep looking then!

We will venture down there a bit to try it out and see what we find.

What's the North-South trail? Is it marked with blue signs? (I've seen them around, but have no idea what they are).

I'm quite familiar with the Mid-State from Hodges Village in Oxford, down to the border.

I'm not sure if I know of the tri-state marker. I can think of two monuments I've seen out there. One is down near the old wooden railroad bridge on the Trunkline... the other is on a side road off of the old Thompson Road. It's called Lower or Upper Gore Road, in Webster -- not sure if it's called anything different at the end you'd ride in from.

The North-South Trail in Rhode Island goes from the Northern border with MA all the way to the coast in Charlestown, RI. It is approximately 60 - 70 miles in length (I believe) and travels thru several of the management areas (such as Burlingame and Arcadia). Mixture of paved and dirt roads and singletrack. Was designed for hiking, horse-backing and mtbs. Contact RI NEMBA for more info.

Thanks a lot!

The trail I was seeing was in MA, in the Douglas State Forest. Apparently it's something else...

I've also been seeing some orangish-red markers. Probably something for a private club's activities...
