Still a month off, but I wanted to put a bug in people's ears about the event. September 24th is National Public Lands Day and BVNEMBA has volunteered to do some trail work at Hodges Village Dam in Oxford, MA. The exact area of trail we'll be working hasn't been determined yet, but should be soon. The Army Corps of Engineers has been host to multiple MTB related events at Hodges Village and this is our chance to give them a little in return by helping to maintain the trail system. I'll post more detail as it becomes available but I hope some of you can make room in your schedules to come out and lend a hand. Let's have a good showing and put to work some of the skills learned at the various trail building schools that have been held this season.

I've been discussing the project with the land managers and it looks like we will probably be cutting a new singletrack trail as a bypass around a perpetually damp area of the trail. The area we're working around is a bowl shaped depression roughly between the high school and Green Briar park for those that are familliar with the area. I'm going out this week to plot it on my GPS and flag the potential new trail before we get final approval to build. We could use any experienced trail builders that would like to come out and lend their expertise to the effort. More detail to follow.

We're still waiting for final design approval from the Army Corps of Engineers, but the work day is only two weeks from this Saturday and it's time to start collecting workers. If you are planning to come lend a hand, please email me, eammon at gmail dot com, or send me a private message here so I can get an idea of the size of our work crew.

I'm still looking for volunteers for this project. The time frame is Saturday morning 9/24, 8am to 12pm and last year the Army Corps of Engineers provided lunch for all the volunteers after the work was completed. If there's interest I'll also be leading a ride after lunch. Right now the work crew is pretty small and a few more hands would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you plan on coming so I can get a true idea of the size of the team I'll be working with.

Last call for volunteers, I have to submit a list of people to the Army Corps of Engineers this afternoon. If you're on the fence now is the time to decide. Again, email me: eammon at gmail dot com, or send me a PM here to get on the list.
