How do you get the tubeless valve out of the rim without damaging it?

First season using tubeless, and I had a problem out on the Kingdom trails riding with my wife. I rolled the tire and the bead broke, so put quite a bit of pressure in the tire to reseat, and discovered a pin hole in the center of the tread.
I wanted to put a tube in so I could finish the ride, but the valve just spins around trying to get it out of the rim.

Anyone know any tricks to this? Is it the same way on all UST rims. Luckily I was able to patch the hole (from the outside, no CO2 left after this) to get out of the woods, but had to play it safe and ride the road out, which kinda left a damper on a would be great ride.

Get some Stan's sealant and put it in the tire. Stan's would have sealed the hole in your tire, and all would have been good.

What wheels are you using?

On all the Mavics I've used (x3.1, Crossmax, Crossroc) there's a black plastic nut on the stem. Once that and a small rubber donut/washer are removed, the valve just pushes through.

I have Mavic Cross Max XLs.
I bought the bike as a leftover this year, it must have had some kind of sealant in the tire, because a small ball of something came out after I did seal it with some Stans at home.
I had done the back tire with Stans, I guess I should have done both before, but I was too lazy.

I will try pushing the valve out next time. Thanks.
I thought that it must have been threaded.
