View Full Version : Saddle Repair?

I had a nasty fall a while back and tore the nose of my saddle right off its metal base. A few weeks ago, I brought the bike in for a tune-up, and they glued it back down.
Naturally, it didn't stick, so the saddle keeps buckling up under me when I ride. Can anyone recommend a strong glue (maybe Tiger?) I can use until I can afford a new saddle?
TIA.

Are you talking about gluing the foam to the base, or the cover to the base? If you just want to get by until you can get a new saddle, duct tape will do the trick.

I have used 3M upholstery spary glue with success. it says semi felxible and holds pretty well. I have also used Gorilla Glue underneath my saddle if its not going to be getting flexed around

I used black electrical tape on the nose of one saddle for at least 4 months, worked better that duct tape IMO because duct tape gets sticky on the edges. I would bet some gorillia glue then electrical tape would work a long time.

Sounds like a job for Shoe Goo. The stuff is amazing. Available at most sneaker retailers. I've used it on shoes, tire sidewalls and seats.

I need to glue the foam to the base. I'll use Gorilla glue and electrical tape. If that doesn't hold it, nothing will. I'll have to bite the bullet & buy a new saddle.

Yeah, I forgot that Duct tape is sticky on the edges. Electrical tape will make a much nicer looking repair. You can even get the tape in colors, if that is what you are into.

LOL, my advise would be just get a new saddle. WTB's are really cheap and a nice saddle for the money. I messed around a long time trying to repair one of my seats, but it always turned out terrible.

I used the Shoo Goo that Slider suggested w/electrical tape. It's worked surprisingly well. I'll get a new saddle soon, though.
