Rode at Jiminy Peak in W. Mass w/ Narlus and a couple others yesterday - our first day on the lifts this season. Trails are in excellent shape, and even though only the lower lift is operating until July there's still plenty of terrain to have a good day of riding.
This is a great mountain for someone that would like to try out DHing or just ride lifts for a day for a change of pace - it's one of the few places that has a lot of fun intermediate level stuff that isn't too intimidating for beginners or those that don't have a big ol DH bike and a bunch of body armor.

NEMBA's Pete Vangel has been helping JP put in a bunch of new trails and I hear they're awesome. He also plays a big role at Holyoke-- solid technical XC.

I hooked up with Pete there a few times last season and he played tour guide for us. He's always got something new up his sleeve trail-wise. He's also the only person I've DHed with that will bring a group of 8 or 10 people in the middle of a run to a complete halt and get us all off our bikes to rework a section of trail. Lotsa hands makes short work he says, or something to that effect. :) Good guy and good rider too.

I was there yesterday. Well not that day but 8/13/05. Your right the trails are great. It's nice to ride the lifts. Actually the Berkshire express was open so that was even better because it will take you all the way to the top of the mountain. ;)

Hey, If you guys are digging the Jiminy handiwork of Mr. VanGel--get up to killington--Pete has been killington's trail designer in residence for the summer---I hear he has really breathed some life into the Big K!
Not to mention to 4-5 miles of new trails he added to the Holyoke range (aka Bachelor St.) in the early spring.

I rode Killington last summer. <snip>
The post above yours says he is at Killington this summer. Chances are things have changed some.

That's good news. Killington was definitely pretty limited for good DH trails, tho that 1-3-6-9 run is a lot of fun; you can get really ripping on parts of it. I'm gonna go up in leaf season when they open the lower lift to get in some seriously long runs and check out Pete's new creations.

I believe Killington has even named a trail in his honor (or at least that's the local rumor) called "Pete's Wicked Trail" a name also used for one of his trails at bachelor st.
