I'd like to kick Mother Nature square in the nuts, then make her suck the dirty basement water right out of my sump pump hole.

Then when she's done at Trailbait's house, she can come here and sit in the fireplace, look up the chimney with her mouth open and catch the drips.

This weather has done such a number on me I walked out of work at 11:00 today because the kids were being such animals that I just couldn't deal anymore. I went to a bar with my oldest and drank beer and then went to tanning. I am freeeaaking out.

Come ON! Suck it up, people! This is New England. You know what they say:
If you don't like the weather, just wait 6 weeks!

EZ for me to say having just come back from Vegas (baby) and Utah where it was in the 80's and 90's and dry dry dry.

I'm thinking about putting the Stumpjumper out on the curb for trash pickup and taking up a new sport -- Jack Daniels & a bottle of valium.....

When it breaks I'll have my honeydoos done, and be ready ta go.

with the weather we've been having the past few months, it would be par for the course to get a hurricane or two this summer.....

I got in a really good ride at Fort Rock on New Years Day.

This weather pattern sucks.

Look at it this way : The weather seems to be changing so that it's a month or two behind what is the norm. So we'll have good biking weather into December! ;D

It all evens out in the end. We'll get past this and see weeks on end of sunny, non-humid biking nirvana. Unfortunately, when that happens, I'll have to catch up on all the yard work I've let go so I could sneak in a bike ride between downpours.

I'm not so sure about that. I remember a few years ago when it rained on at least one of the weekend days all through the summer. I'm not saying that's gonna happen but the summers are already too short around here. What can ya do.

Most days in a New England summer are not the dry and warm ones. Sticky and sweltering, try that. Its all OK with me, as long as those deer flies can't catch up to me.

I think also in 2003 it was a really cold spring. It sort of lept straight into summer around July.

Yep, I remember that. The spring was as miserable as this one, but it was a great, hot summer.

and Channel 7 this morning said that this is the coldest May on record so far.

"i pulled in rocky pond lot and there was no one. "

Not too surprised. If its 80 degrees and a light rain falling then that's one thing. Temps in the 40's with a soaking rain, that doesn't excite me.

not only do I not like riding in cold rain, i don't want to mess up the trails either.

Depends on the trail. Myles standish is probably rideable right now. Trail of Tears (minus the usual muddy spots) should be rideable by saturday.

I ride in the rain. My bros ride in the rain. If you don't ride in the rain..well then you shouldn't live in Maine.

We started our ride last night at 6:30, cracking beers at 10. It was Great! I'm not waiting for the sun to come out.

I mostly stick to the road on the 'cross bike in the rain/drizzle. I will ride certain trails when it's wet. They drain so fast (this is well after the March thaw) that it's really no big deal. That and they are also shared by MXers so I'm not worried about damage to these trails. I stay away from muddy trails that hold water, the kind where you sink in and leave an imprint. It's no fun to ride them and you leave a nice rut for everyone else to deal with. Sandy/silty trails seem to drain the fastest, and luckily there's a whole bunch near me :)

Well it's raining again right now. Cold. Oh yea, the rain is coming in sideways. Tuesday we lit a fire. We must have off-pist someone on Seattle. My weekeday rides are limited to 6pm and when I get home and it cold and wet, well I just can't motivate. Someone tell me this is going to change. Arggggggh! Pass the Jack... :(

No kidding -- now the weekend is looking iffy. I spent 3 months recuperating thinking I could at least get on my road bike by the end of this month and I can never get out. I just want to go to bed and have somebody wake me up when the sun finally decides to come out.

I went for a walk in the misty drizzle here at work during my lunch. It feels like March. I'll be sporting leg warmers, a skull cap and possibly the winter gloves on my road ride tonight, oh yeah and 2 pairs of thin wool socks - on MAY 26th. Good times ::)

This thread has got me thinking.

Today I said FTR and commuted to work. I am getting suited up now to ride home in the rain. I decided to ride my "nice" bike. A little rain gear, a headland backboard fender, and a towel, and I was fine.

I rode in the rain a lot when I lived in Ireland. I like it. MN, Bring it on.

EDIT: My clothes are still damp. I love this stuff.

I'm with Toddski & Vinny, it's only water. You just need to pick sandy, well-drained trails. I like riding when it's cool better than when it's hot, too. It's sorta like winter riding, the hardest part is getting out the door.

Water, after all, is the elixir of life.

Yea the run dosen't stop me from riding either. THe only thing is finally made me do is brake down and buy a front fender.
