First, a little background.

Last month, I went over the bars and hurt my shoulder. I finally went to my doctor, and he said that it was most probably a strain or pull of the deltoid muscle.

Yesterday, I went riding with my Sunday crew, and went over the bar again. We had to cut the ride short, because my right thumb was giving me discomfort. I didn't go to the doctor yesterday, because I had an appointment with my orthopedic today.

I went to see my ortho, and she said that my shoulder will heal just fine, and that I tore a ligament in my thumb. Because I don't like to do things like anyone else, instead of tearing the ligament in the middle of the ligament, I yank part of the bone off. I got myself a fancy thumb brace that I'm supposed to wear for a couple of weeks, but I don't know how long that is going to last.

The down side is I'm going to have to take it easy on the bike for couple of weeks. I was told not to ride this Thursday night, but she didn't say anything about this Sunday, mostly because I didn't ask.

Bummer...I hope it heals soon!

Truthfully, when I noticed you started a thread called "Medical update", I assumed it was an update about your possibly bent frame!

May you and your bike heal quickly!

Hi endo prince ('cause I'm the endo king),
that's a fairly common injury, to me at least. My ortho hooked me up with a fancy thumb split...then I used a sram twist grip shifters for a while. If that doesn't wiork for you, there's always the road bike. Do lots of hill repeats, and when you get back in the dirt, you'll be leaving your riding buddies at the bottom of those dirt climbs.
Ride safe (er),
gw

I didn't even have a witness to the endo! All they saw was the aftermath.

Oh yeah, I broke the bleeder valve on the rear disc in the crash. It still holds pressure, but I have to find a new valve and get an easy-out to replace it.

I have decided to attend your birthday party so maybe if you show up early, load up on "painkiller" and do a ride!

Then maybe the two of you can provide entertainment for Sunday? We'll see if you two can go "shoulder to shoulder"...

I've got my niece's graduation party at 3:00 and I still can't ride my mountain bike. I'm going to try to get out for a road ride in the morning. So, it look's like I'm going to miss Quo's birthday party.
