The spring trail care day at Pawtuckaway will be this Sunday, May 22 at 8 am.

We will be working on some much needed blowdown removal and other general sprucing up on the Shaw trail, a really fun and technical trail that serves as a major connection to the Woronoco trail, creating a really nice loop in the park.

If you come, don't forget the bug dope as the critters are getting hungry!

See you then!!!!!

John

Directions:
From route 101, exit 5, take a right at the end of the ramp.
At second light, take left and follow route 27/107 for 4 miles to 107 North.

Follow 107 North for 3 miles to Reservation Road on the right. There is a sign but be careful not to miss it.

Follow Reservation Road, it will turn into a gravel road. Stay right at the first split (about 1 mile in) and park at the first closed gate on the left. We will drive to the trailhead from there.

I am leaving my house to do errands right now (5:45am) and will not be back by a computer again. I am going to show up at Pawtuckaway around 8am, even though it is currently raining... If anyone knows that this is canceled/postponed, could they call me on my cell phone at 603 785 1859. Thanks!

So... I arrived at the closed gate at 8:10. No one was around, so I waited for a bit then decided that maybe everyone had come and gone already.

I decided to drive around and abuse my Saturn for a while and try to find the work crew... I went as far as my car could safely go down a number of roads, but didn't see anything.

Where was the crew? Did anyone actually show up, or was I on a wild goose chase?

Jake,

You must have just missed us, by a minute. At 10 past on my watch we pulled out and drove up past the FireTower parking area and parked in a small clearing on the right side off the road.
The day was a success and the wildlife was pretty calm today, thanks to the cool air and light showers. We hiked the entire lenght of the Shaw Trail, taking out blowdowns and pruning. Then cleared a log jam under Shaw trail bridge. Then turned around and hiked back out. We arrived back at the parking area around 2:00.
We had 5 very capable volunteers so the work went fast. Thanks to all for coming out and playing. Thanks Jake for trying to be there.
Next Sunday, we are at Bear Brook State Park for Trail Maintenance and then off to ride the Kingdom Trails on Monday. Hope you can make it.

Also, glad to hear you had a great time riding at FOMBA on Saturday. I'm looking forward to having you in the organization. With only a dozen or so regular volunteers we can always use more help. The next trailday at FOMBA is June 4th, meet on Depot Road in the Boardyard at 8:00 am.

Thanks agian,
Kevin
