I'm going to buy a fork for one of my SS bikes, looking for like 85mm of travel to take the edge off at places like Foxboro (I know, I'm a sinner ;), but I'll still have 2 rigid SS bikes). Performance has the '04 for $209 shipped. I would really only be riding XC on the fork, on a carbon frame HT, so no drops at all. Anyone here have any experience with these?? The folks over at MTBR seem to love the thing, but for some reason I never really trust those reviews. Any input is much appreciated.
Thx

if its anything like the mz series id stay away. the fork didnt really have a good feel to it and im sure you can get a better fork for that same price.

Maybe go with a fork other than Marzocchi, Rock Shox or Fox perhaps? Marzocchi really doesn't have many XC forks that compare to those by Fox.

I'm a Marzocchi fan. Fox shocks cost three times as much. For the money, it is a good deal. Reasonably stiff, but not as adjustable as some so make sure you get srpinging to match your weight and riding style. Play with oil viscosity and level to match the damping, and you'll never miss the external adjusters once you get it right.

Bought an efx Pro earlier this year for my backup franken-bike I built earlier this year, (Main ride has a Minute 2). I also have a Psylo SL, and had a SID on my recently demised NRS 1.
The Marzocchi is their bottom of the barrel spring loaded 120mm oem fork. I wasn't expecting much, but other than learning how to crank down the springs and that it wasn't nearly as smart about diving on sharp slow turns, it has totally won me over.
It tracks better on wide open downhills than my Manitou (springs vs. air?) and at 1/3 the price! It is a simple fork, and if its any indicator to other low end marz forks, I'd go for it. They have been making racing shocks for a variety of vehichles for years and dominating in technology.
What's to lose if you can't afford a SID?

Thx for the input. I'm going to wait it out until at least next month as it stands now (budget issues). I'll probably go with the Marz. The other thing I was mulling over was buying a Mararthon S 120 from Jenson for $275 later in the Summer (assuming they still have them) and installing it on my Jamis geared bike. Then I'd move the Psylo I have to one of the SS bikes (adjustable to 85mm). Works out to a little more $$ but overall the Marathon is a much nicer fork. I can live with the Psylo on the SS.
