Anyone hear familiar with AVIS in Andover? There's a bunch of kids over on bustedspoke that are revved up to try to get the okay to build some jumps on a little spot of town land. I think it would be a good thing to try to help them out and show them the right way to do things.
Any info at all would help, specially a pro-bike contact within AVIS itself (if there is such a person) or any other suggestions that would help them out.
Thanks,
Dennis

AVIS is officialy posted for "Passive Enjoyment". This is a compromise position which can be interpreted as no bikes or yes bikes. If you ask them right now it means no bikes, with a wink. The balance on this issue is swayed by the undecided trustees.
There are those among the AVIS trustees who would like the posting to be "no MTB". They are barely out numbered at the moment.
It would take a very small incident too push the "no mtb" voters into the majority.
Please make the Busted Spoke list aware of the fragility of the MTB relationship within the AVIS and encourage them not to place it at risk.

dont worry dennis, if i see some kids building stuff in the avis trails around town here ill make sure to yell at them like an old guy yelling at kids to get off his lawn. well ill at least let them know what they are doing is illegal and if they dont listen to me ill wait till they leave and then tear down whatever was built and cover any cut trails. if it wasnt for the avis trails i wouldnt have any place to ride near my house so i definately want to still be able to ride in them.

:) Well, at least one person's is listening.
Thanks gnu - just be sure you don't get yourself into any sort of confrontation. Couple of those guys sounded like real tools.

well, if something does go sour im hoping that im faster than them since it sounds like they are only interested in slowly freeriding. i will definately keep on the lookout. but my philosophy is that before you confront someone, make sure your at least faster than them.

Either that, or know that you can kick their ass.
