amazing how fast things can change:

The potential exists for increased fire danger on Wednesday. High
temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 70s to mid 80s
Wednesday afternoon. In addition... southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph
with afternoon relative humidities between 20 and 30 percent are
expected. Given the lack of substantial rainfall over the past week
and a half... these conditions are potentially serious if any wild or
brush fires develop due to the potential of rapid fire growth.

A Fire Weather Watch has already been posted for most of
Massachusetts... northeast Connecticut... most of Rhode Island and
portions of southern New Hampshire for Wednesday afternoon.

I sat in the back of my truck on my lunch break (bike is in for a tune-up), and there was another lady having lunch in her car with the windows up and the a/c on!! wtf??!?!?!

Probably listening to the latest news on the new pope. Some people can't get enough of it. I guess at 78 the death watch is already on.

It looked like some moron was playing with matches at Case last weekend. There was a smallish patch that seemed to have burned itself out, fortunately. The weather won't help contain it next time, though.

All we can do is hydrate heavily, and ride hard enough that our sweat keeps the dust down. Rereading that....eeeewwww!

We had a nasty drought maybe eight or nine years ago. I remember riding at Lynn and not being able to see the ground, for all the dust. There was no moisture for at least a foot below surface. It really, really sucked to ride like that. I seriously hope this early, warm and dry spring does not indicate more of the same this summer.

on the positive side, hopefully this dry spell is helping to knock down the mosquito potential....

I got back from my lunch ride today and a co-worker told me is was too hot to ride.
WTF?
No, Florida or Israel in August is too hot to do lunch rides.
Not Massachusetts in April.

Complaining people are happy people.

How true that is. My buddy was saying 70s was too hot to do ANYTHING. I asked him what his plans were for the summer then. Sit inside in the AC and watch TV like a good corporate sheep? Needless to say he got pissed off and didn't reply ::) ;D
