Our trail is now pretty much complete from Baker Rd to Whales Head. Rides pretty damn good in most places, but we probably left a few too many logs across the trail - makes it much harder and slow than necessary. It is tough enough without the oak!

Lots of play things for the freeriding set all along the trail. :o

Come on out and join the fun.

I'm going to post this on all relevant strings regarding Wendell:

Today was another great day of trail building because of the volunteers who came out-who, were once again, of extremely good cheer and very hard working! Not mention, how everyone took the time and put in the work to over come some challenging trail issues. I must say, the folks who keep coming out and giving their time and labor up in Wendell have made this a great experience. Thanks to everyone again!

To all the trailbuilders in Wendell,

Thanks for the great work! My friend Ann and I found the trail after hearing rumor, and couldn't believe our trail devouring eyes! I brought my old riding buddies (one up from NYC for the weekend), through the new singletrack as a part of our excursion. We've been riding together in our "backyard" of Wendell/Montague for over ten years and the above mentioned trail, and the one along Wickett Pond brought lots of kudos to the trailbuilders. Its great to ride trails that have been built with bikes in mind, and again, thanks to all the bodies that got through that laurel and used backs thighs and arms for all our benefit!

Badhabitkikka,

We're very glad to hear the locals are getting out and enjoying the new trails! The work's been hard, but really a lot of fun (digging in the woods has it's merits!). We should have that upper trail complete all the way to the northern end of the M & M (Davis RD) by the weekend...we'll be fine tuning and adding some boardwalks after that. Spread the word, and bring more friends out to ride Wendell. ;D

We will probably be out sometime next weekend as well--maybe we'll run into you.

Happy Trails!

Thanks... It is always nice to hear good feedback, we have been building the trails with Mtn bikes in mind though they are
"Multi-use, Non moterized". I am very glad to hear that even more of the local's are getting word and passing it on, Keep telling all your friends and keep riding and we will keep building. Most of all Enjoy.
keep posted to the forums for our trail work days and Rides, and maybe we will see you out there soon.
If you ever want to know when we are having a trail work day or, a ride feel free to e-mail myself at courtmac@crocker.com , or or Chapter Vice Pres Liam O'Brien at ginaliam@mac.com.

Went back out for about 3 hours at around 9am and.....Gimmie a D, Gimmie a O, Gimmie a N, Gimmie a E, what does that spell? Ya Ya Done we are complete all the way down to the M&M. So to recap, we are more than half done with our trail and we can now at least ride the first half as a loop without backtracking or hoofing it through the woods. 8)
Let's hear it for the Singletrack Stooges? hehehe!

Once again the 5 am crew schlepped into the soggy woods of Wendell and laid in two (2) 12ft bridges built by ever-resourceful and helpful Mark Courtemanche (this guy is a trail building machine and he's become our unstoppable not-soo-secret weapon!). We also began rock armoring this area extensively...and no we're not done. Ultimately there will be a 'road' of about 100 yardds of rock through this slimey area. One bridge is well-set and ready to go-but the second one need more love and bracing---if you ride this this weekend be careful---work in progress. It will prpobably get finished one morning next week or possible saturday--we'll see. At any rate-this has been one helll of a project and the dedication of a host of volunteers and land manager has really paid off so far. Good work as always guys!

Well Liam hit the nail on the head. the area is quite muddy to say the least but fortunatly for us Wendell seems to have a endless supply of huge flat rocks that we can use for armoring, and there is plenty of that to do, and to anybody who is out for a hike, or biking through the new trail if you feel like throwing a couple of rocks then by all means go right ahead. Franklin County's new "Signature" is coming along nicely, though it is far from being complete. as Liam mentioned we will soon resume our large and frequent trail work days. So to those of you who have yet to see Wendell, I urge you to come out and just take a look around or if you are interested you can join us on a trail work day.

We had a small crew Saturday featuring special guest 'Rich LaBombard & the Polaski's' from Hampshire County. The morning was spent armoring soft spots, rerouting some particularly nasty areas, blocking off a couple of obvious bypasses, tearing stumps, and clearing saplings & low hanging branches that clogged the sightlines of the trail. One or two similar mornings will make the entire length from the start of the old race trail to the junction with the M&M just about perfect. Thanks for the fine work everyone, especially Saturday's crew Mark, Liam, Steve & Rich.

I got out agian for a couple hours and worked on re-routing the very first trail we built around the BOG, there was supposed to be help but everybody bagged.. thats ok though, fwe more hours work and the trail will be ridable, later today we- Liam and Myself got out for a nice little jaunt through the new trail even wet it rides super smooth.

PS. sorry PK, unfortunatly none of the singletrack stooges have a digital camera, otherwise we would be forwarding you tons of pics.

This morning was productive---ribboned off about 1/2 mile of trail--we'll get another morning in this week and Big Mac will lead a crew on Saturday (bright and early-6:00am at the ranger station headquarters) to start building the newest trail at Wendell---should be close to what 5 miles of new advanced singletrack by the Harpoon Adv. Series ride on July 24...not mention the miles of great challenging trails already there (M&M and TRAIL TO THE LOOKOUTS) and whizzing high speed down bermed, jumpy fire roads makes for great transitions, too...I tell ya guys and gals-Wendell is getting to be the place to ride. The day yuse swim/picnic area is also real swell!
