I rode here Sunday afternoon (what a great weekend of weather btw)-I was absolutely shocked and delighted by the conditions. DRy, tacky, very little winter blow down-wow, it was great-check it out before the next round of rain!!!

I recently bought a house close to the Mechanic St entrance and was really looking forward to getting on the trails once things dried out. I followed the "Mountain Bike" trails on the official park map but I'm beginning to suspect that they're all pretty lame jeep tracks. I've noticed that mountain biking is explicitly prohibted near the notch visitor center.
Does anyone know if biking is allowed on any decent single track at Holyoke Range SF?

Most of the good trails are on the other side of the mountain. Go up up Mechanic St. Straight over the mountain.
This is the address of the map of all the trails. More are being built, people are meeting in the parking lot on Bachelor St. Sat at 9:00 if you would like to help and see where the trails are. Bring your bike it's A long way to where they are working. www.hampshire.edu/cms_html/Holyoke_Range.htm

get yourself a local guide from a local bike shop and go in at the Bachelor st parking area, they are far from lame jeep tracks you just need to know where to go (you will not be disapointed). 8)
and yes the holyoke range has a good sized trail system as well.
I am sure somone will post a link to maps of both for you.

I'm very interested in any beta I can get on this Bachelor/Holyoke. I'm planning on riding out there quite a bit this season.

Mark,
Just decided to change it to reflect my screen name on other forums. Also, sounds a little less strange when I introduce myself in person to board users who are non -skiers ;)
See you Saturday!

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to get out today for a bit to venture farther - armed with that Hampshire College map and my GPS.
Hey, Westerner, I have other obligations this weekend but is the Bacthelor St. 9AM thing happen every Saturday? I'd definitely like to be there to lend a hand and check out more trails. What kind of tools (if any) should I bring?

Pilotdave,
The trail thing isn't every weekend but if you put yourself on the PV mailing list (on this site) they will let you know. Also we will ride there sunday at 9:00 if you want us to show you around we would be glad to.
