I really hate swallowing bugs. They taste terrible, and all I do is choke and spit for 5 minutes after.

And black flies, while changing a flat in the woods, or fixing a busted chain, or while belaying someone climbing, or even better, while leading a trad route! Time to go stock up on DEET.

Yes ticks are out in full force again. Took the dog for a 20 minute walk in the woods behind our house over last weekend. Even after spraying her off with the garden hose, we pulled another 40 ticks off. Doesn't seem fair to have to use bug spray when there are still snow patches on the ground.

The real killer is deer flies. Those buggers that get right in your hair and somehow get tangled up and bzzzzzzzzzz.

Ugh, I hate ticks. Mosquitos love me too. I read mosquitos can "smell" what kind of blood you have, and target specific people. I guess I'm one of those people. I hate all bugs. Not in a "gross, icky" kinda way, just a "annoying as hell" kinda way. I noticed a tree in my yard is almost completely coated in some kind of larvae. Gonna have to scrape it off and burn it.

This reminds me of one of my favorite movie scenes:
Starship Troopersthe commercial in the movie of all the little kids stomping on bugs.
"Everybody is doing their part to rid the planet of bugs."

Great scene, I frickin hate'em.

I read a SciFi short story once about how China had killed all its bugs and was keeping it a secret that all the plants were dying now.
My point? Bugs suck but are a neccesary evil. Easy for me to say since I don't have Trailbait's yummy smelling blood.
