That was a good idea. I rode my 'cross bike last night on the road and saw a coyote on the east side of Providence. Now we have 2 posts that are actually about bikes. We could be on a roll ;)

I think that once the trails dry out we all will appreciate riding this season.

I too enjoy riding my bike.

i've been riding my bike around town, my bighit at that. pretty fun for messing around on stuff. i was riding slong the sidewalk, bunnyhopping these snow chunks knocked on the sidewalk by the plows. on one stretch of sidewalk, there were 3 of these 12-22 inch chunks within about a 30' span. i get over the first 2, but on the third one, i'm out of speed and case it and split it in 2. but before that, some guy on the road in traffic honks his horn twice, rolls down the window, and gives me a thumbs up and a smile. that was pretty good. i continued my ride around town, looking for any small hits or anything of interest. i gave up shortly after that. only so much fun can be had jumping snow chunks on the sidewalk.

My son couldn't wait. He was out jumping snow banks on Sunday as he was dying to try out his new bike I just bought him when I picked up my road bike. Unfortunately, it will be awhile before I can join he and his sister as I had my rotator cuff surgery last week. Not knowing how long I'll be off the bike is killing me.

By the way Splat -- I hope your shades are down.

I rode my Mountain bike today, did some small drops, then chased my 4 year old around my outlaws neighborhood.

I wish all this darn snow would melt so I can ride in the woods again. im beginning to have withdrawal symptoms. I may have to take out my agression on my students, and that won't be pretty. ;D

Winter trail riding on snow is not all that bad when the conditions are right. I actually prefer it to mud season.

There are a few places that get a decent amount of snowmobile traffic as well as some that get a decenet amount of foot & X-country ski traffic (Mine Falls in Nashua comes to mind).

Granted most of the technical trails will have to wait to thaw but at least you can still get out in the woods with snow.

You and Splat need to keep your pants on when riding a bike. It will solve that problem. Either that or lay off the Taco Bell.

Meh - snow doesn't stop riding in the woods if you're determined. I like riding a bike on snow dirt, pavement, carpeted floor, tiles. Snow's actually better than it'll be while everything's thawing and drying out not too long from now.

That said, why haven't I been out since Sunday, except for the empty third floor at work?

just be careful where you fall!

This is one of the reasons I am dying to check out the southwest, also.

In Las Vegas a few years ago, I slalomed a little too close to one of those big saguaros. It put three hypodermic punctures in my arm, and all three infected within 24 hours. They are very nasty.

Not sure at all. It was a big one, and looked something like the one you posted, but without the neon. ;D

I never researched the species, and just assumed it was a saguaro. Any idea what it might have been?

Yes, very cool. I have seen pics of that over/under on MTBR. Was that first shot in Tucson as well?

Speaking of pliers, I picked up a set of these tiny folding needlenose pliers made by Victorinox (Swiss Army knife guys). They are a superb tool to have in your bag of tricks.
