I figure this should be ready when the trails are good and dry. Did the shock and headset this weekend. Next weekend should see the Race Face bottom bracket and crankset. Avid mechanical disk brakes will follow and then I'll have to start thinking about wheels real soon.

not really my style of bike, but it still looks sweet. i have heard a ton of good things about the slayer series so that bike will be really nice once you get it built up.

"not really my style of bike"
Rocky Mountain defines this model as "all mountain ". In between their xcountry racers and big hit freeride bikes. I'm looking at it as a xcountry bike that will take bigger hits than I'm currently getting with my Fox Float 80, and provide a plusher ride at the same time. The frame came with a nice promo DVD showing the building process along with some great footage of extreme riding in British Columbia.

Actually I ordered the shock, headset, stem, bottom bracket, and crankset from Bill. He's bending over backwards to be competetive with the pricing, and he's installing all parts at no additional charge. He doesn't mind, things are slow right now along the Dracut, New Hampshire line. I'll also get my derailers (sic) from him because I hate to adjust those things.

Ah, you can't screw it up, Norm. Here's a pic of mine. Yes, I know you're supposed to shoot the drive side, cranks horizontal or whatever. This is just how it happened to be standing.

So this is a good "all mountain" choice? Might be looking that way later this year. I'm not an aluminum fan, but I sure can't afford any of the Ti versions out there. I'm kinda torn between saving up for a Litespeed and jumping in both feet using something cheaper.
I guess my fallback is to make the NRS do more than it was intended for. Only a matter of time before it breaks, though. Maybe it'll serve as the parts for whatever I do end up with.

I picked up the bike on Thursday. The cable routing is differant on my bike. I'm really busy today. I'll email you some pics tomorrow.

Almost done. I need to adjust the rear derailleur, Add a chain. Install and adjust the front derailleur. Right now this weighs 28.5 lbs. That's a pleasant surprise 8)
