So my daughter & I are driving down the highway last night and I can see that the van up ahead has TV.
A little blue screen glowing in the darkness.
But as we get closer, I say that it looks like the tv is on the drivers’ side and as we pass, my daughter says OMG, the driver is watching the tv!
So I slow way down so the van has to pass us and sure enough, the guy as a screen attached to his visor and I can see that he is glancing up at it and then back at the road. As we are watching him, he reaches up and fiddles with one on the controls! And there is a kid in the passenger seat (he’s not watching tv, he’s looking at us looking at him).
I did look to see if he had Mass plates ;) but they were NH.

I guess the other driver is bored with driving unless he has a challenge. The motoring public needs more distractions. ::)

so what was on?
My Father has one of those built right into his visor, but it's connected to the rear view camera on the motor home.
I've often thought i could make a great tv show of my daily commute. It continues to amaze me the things people do when driving a car. Of course some of those things viewed from a high angle camera looking down into the front seat would get you a half million dollar FCC fine.

I once saw a guy driving on 495 near Andover with a lap top bungeed to his steering wheel. He was typing, looking at the monitor and occasionally looking at the road.
Geeks gone wild!

It's illegal, can't imagine what he was watching and why it was worth it. I wouldn't be able to enjoy watching something while trying to drive.

And I thought the lady eating a big bowl of cheerios perched on the steering wheel was whacky (incidently on 495 near Andover)

So are you guys implying that I shouldn't be reading the newspaper while driving? How about flossing, changing my clothes, and getting my map bag out of the back seat?
At least I use a hands-free phone when driving..... maybe that guy should get a hands-free TV.....

For what it's worth:
GENERAL LAWS OF MASSACHUSETTS
Chapter 90: Section 13
No person shall drive any motor vehicle equipped with any television viewer, screen or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast which is located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of the driver's seat, or which is visible to the driver while operating such motor vehicle.

Does any part of Chapter 90 make mention of eating cereal?
I do remember a news story about some guy getting fined and perhaps arrested for watching porn while he drove. It seems that the DVD in question was easily viewed by other motorists.

With all the tourists you must need to do all that just to fit in.

I remember when I was 21 my girlfriend (at the time) and I were gettin busy while I was driving. I paid the price though, as I hit a deer. Talk about ruining the mood. Oh yeah and my car for that matter. The deer died instantly. When we got out to survey the damage a guy came by and loaded the deer in the back of his pick up and left. Would that count on his hunting license?

If you hit a deer with your car, you cannot pick it up. If you see a dead one on the road, you can pick it up. Doesn't matter what time of year it is. This rule is in place so poachers don't run over deer and then load them on to their truck.
