hey, i'm going to try racing for the first time this year, and want to know if there is a series or something that i can sign up for. Maybe 5-10 races, i'll probably bring the family too. I'm in the boston burbs, so something close by. I need to know now so that i have something to motivate me to start working out.
thanks.

5-10 races is very ambitious, I've done one x-c race, and I didn't like it, it's too competitive, and 15 miniutes into the race my back got wacked out, and the whole way I was in agony, I got off the bike, and waited for the pain to go away, I did manage to pass one kid though, and finish in 2nd to last. you may like it though, I think I may try it again

Finally got a chance to check out the various options, and it seems like the EFTA races are mostly in maine and NH, while the root 66 series is mostly in CT... I live around 495, and the turnpike, so which series is closer, and then, which series has the better trails to ride...

NEMBA's Paul Peaslee and the good folks at Bikebarn.com are putting on the Landmine Classic in Wompatuck SP on Sept. 11, in conjuction with a Harpoon MTB Adventure ride on the 10th. This is an EFTA race and should be a hoot.
You can come ride on Saturday, camp at Wompy if you want, and race the next day. Good stuff.
